Beginners Corner > Blade CX2 tail boom

hello,
I want to replace the stock tail of my Blade CX2 with a Carbon Fiber Tail Boom. Can anyone recommend a kit. I have found several and don't know which one to pick. A company called Extreme has a tail boom with a horizontal fin they claim makes the CX2 easier to use outside. The sole reason I am replacing the stock tail with a new carbon fiber tail boom is so I can fly my CX2 outside (yes, I know, the CX2 is an indoor aircraft and not meant to be flown outdoors. Unfortunately, I have no choice). If anyone can suggest a boom kit or any other simple modifications I can do to make flying outside a little easier, please let me know.
Thanks!
Mark

Hey Mark,

I can't imagine any tailboom that will make your CX2 fly better outdoors. The CX2's nature is just that, an indoor heli.

No need to buy any upgrade kit, just use a servo wheel, an arrow shaft and have some fun. That is what I did on my CX

here are some pics from my site.

hope that helps.

Boom

Thanks for the suggestion.

The idea behind the slimmer tail boom for the CX2 is to reduce wind resistance. Less wind resistance outside means more control. The big stock tail on the CX2 is a natural wind catcher. If you're going to fly outside, the wind must be neutralized as much as possible.

for what its worth I purchased the extreme tail and have been real happy with it....no more broken bodys, looks good too.. white or black...paintable...a bit more performance but its still a cx2 and when the wind is down it goes out to fly.... other wise she stays inside and why not make it look cool..
