Hi guy's

got a problem with tt red line 53, it over heat.
it's been running fine till this weekend. only had 8 tank from new.

i've changed all fuel line, taken both needles out and blowing them with compressed air, checked carb mount is tight. fan is well down on enginecrank.

it was running it just over the factory setting. i now have the main needle at 4 1/4 turn out and you cant put your finger on it.

any one know, what else i could check.

You've got an air leak somewhere. I'd suspect that it's the o-ring on the main needle.

check any filters on it to see if they are blocked
check the exhaust pressure nipple isn't blocked
check for air leaks in the fuel system and engine
make sure the needle O rings are in good condition
try a fresh bottle of fuel

no air leaks on tank or exhaust, nibble clear, engine head is tight down and O rings look fine. used a new bottle of fuel, also put a new filter on and made sure that was clear before putting on

Have you checked that the back plate is tight ?

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

If it has low compression,it wont have enough suction to draw fuel.If it was overheated it's possible the ring and or piston is bad.

Your engine is running lean. You are almost certainly sucking air from somewhere. Check entire fuel system again - more carefully this time around!

Just some observations.

Firstly what exhaust are you running, on the MP5 for instance even on a relatively new engine, 4 1/4 turns is very, very rich.

Have you richened the high needle out so far that it is starting to leak air?

As a result of a very rich main needle, have you leaned the low needle to compensate - if you have my bet would be this could be your problem.

The low end needle controls the first 60% of the throttle opening so unless you are really throwing it around its the low end needle that needs adjusting - try about 1/2 turn out from flush with the carb.

4 1/2 turns on the main is way to much where is the low end this also is your mid i sugguest that if your low end is at the factory setting you open it up about 1/2 to 3/4 rich from the factory setting the main needle needs to be at 2.5 to 1.75 when at 2200 on the head with 8.5 ratio and what type of fuel are you running magnum and cy will need a richer low end try that let me know Dino

also v8fuy and heliphil are on the money with there post Dino

the exhaust is hartori 523. re-check all line and tank no leeks. put the enigne back to factory seting and it's still the same. then turned the main needle out half turn, still hot. turn idle needle out half turn and stil hot.

something must be well wrong with this engine, tried a club members redline and all was fine with his in my heli

using 20% bekra and so is mate he's had 2 gallons with no probs

Has the glow plug come loose? That will cause lean runs as well as the previous posted possibilities. One of the quicker and easier things to check is for a dirty/clogged fuel filter.

hot??

Hot as in more than 190* or running lean from idle to hover ??? if running lean from idle to hover open up the low end more go a full turn richer from the factory setting

engine overheating

If the motor has good compression and the ring looks fine I would suspect porosity on the piston surface, causing the piston to retain too much heat. (The piston could have been contaminated while being sprayed with hard surfacing alloy) if this is the way they process there engine components.
