A member in a local club bought the heli whose pictures are below. It is a Hirobo but as I am a recent addition to the heli addiction I do not know WHAT Hirobo. Can anyone identify the mystery heli for me? Once identified are parts available for it? Is it worth buying parts for it?

Thanks
Dynomite

Shuttle

Looks like a late eighties/early nineties Shuttle, maybe an XX version, the one with the green fins and canopy.

Thanks Gordie. You are correct in regards to the green canopy and fins.

Obviously this heli is a belt start heli and from what I have heard they are a PITA. Is it worth trying to resurrect this heli, or would you be better off removing the electronics and selling it for parts? Mind you the person who will be attempting to fly this is a TOTAL heli newbie and this would be his first bird.

Thanks

Hmmmm.................

While some of the parts for this are still available in an updated form, head parts would be hard to come by. As I recall, the darn thing flew remarkably well and was one of the reasons I was able to learn helicopters at all, it was easy to fly and cheap to repair compared to nearly everything else available at the time.
While you could fly it, I'd probably just set it aside as a collectors item, and a not too rare one at that.

Shuttle

Thanks again Gordie.

I will recommend that it be cleaned and kept as a shelf queen. Perhaps he can pull the electronics out and sell them to another club member who has a liking of old AM electronics.
