Hey there, just the other day i was flying my very new thunder power 6s 5000mah v2 pack in my t-rex 600, was having a good flying day and everything was clicking, untill i was to low doing piro flips and made a mistake. Planted the heli.

Anyways one cell in the middle of the pack got a slight poke or tear about 1/8"x1/4" inch, and a little bit of liquid came out, very little. The tear is barley noticable, and took a full charge with each cell within .005v at 4.2v.

Figuring nothing more to loose, i put some thick ca on the tear and immediatly sprayed with kicker, its sealed. Is this pack ok to use? rand a cycle on it with my tp1010 charger and worked fine

Imo, I wouldn't take the risk putting in my heli or handling it.

Thats what i was thinking, but nothing puffed at all, and charges/discharges fine on the charger, balancer reads cells are matched almost perfectly, nothing ever got warm

Hmmm very strange. All the Lipos that I have seen burst into flames a few seconds after the slightest puncture....

Put some thick tape over the glue patch, charge/discharge them a few times in controlled environment - not on the heli - keep a fire extinguisher near by - and if nothing weird happens go ahead and use them.

That never has happened to any battery I've seen punctured. (I've seen lots)

I have seen seen many demostrations on YouTube but truth is I have seen it live only once when I shot an old charged lipo with my airgun...

May be in order to start a fire you have to punch a hole through and short the elements too - not only through the external bag. In my case the pellet went all the way through!

Punctured lipos..

I have a 10s pack that got poked...I went to the auto parts store and got some of that heavy duty gasket sealer and smeared some of that all over the punctured area...It has been working great for over 50+ cycles that way..

while it is not recommended to use a poked lipo I have had very good luck with mine,...it's hard to throw away a 300-400$ pack for something like a poke isn't it?

Exactly, well everything looks ok, so im going to just hover the heli for a minute, land and check it out, another minute, etc... then charge it up and look at the cells, we'll see what happens...

I've actually intentionally poked a few holes in a couple cheapo 2s or 3s packs (after taking all the proper safety precautions of course ), none of them burst into flames though they did get very hot, swell, smoke and give off some noxious fumes....

Lipo Smoke....Don't breathe this!!!
