I was wondering how stable the Beam e4 is compared to bigger models. I am looking into a 45 size heli I had an old trex 450 the old grey frame models and just kinda have not flown in a while I could hover my rex and foward flight but never got into the 3d to much but I think the beam would be a good way to get started back into it just not sure how shakey I will be on my first couple flights back. Aslo what kind of seup would you guys recommend for this heli.
Thanks

Hi there !

In my opinion the BEAM E4 is very stable but not more than a T-REX 450. Just the same. What makes it different is its ability to fly hard 3D manoeuvers and its quality of parts and conception of the kit, better than a T-REX.

A a more stable heli on this size I do not think you will find. You will then have to go up to something bigger such as a T-REX 500 for instance.

The setup I wouid recommend is the following :

HS-65HB for the cyclic
GY-401 gyro
S9257 for the rudder
Scorpion motor 2221- 8 V2
Scorpion controller 45A

Good luck,

Eduardo

The Beam is much more robust and will take more of a pounding more than the trex.. You can improve stability by using precise servos like the digital JR285 and backing down the cyclic throws in swash mix or adding positive expo.. All bets are off on a windy day for these little ones..

ok thats cool. I kinda learned how to fly ona trex 450 the old one so I think this will be a ton better than that because the old rex i flew was so sluggish. I figure this would be great because I can fly it at a small field and when i get ready after getting back into hovering froward flight which wont take long I can start to bust in with some nice 3d.

Sandy: THat is what I was thinking to set it up for nice and easy to break back into it and since parts seem to be easy to find for it I don't think a crash will mess me up to much. My brother is interested in a beam so I might get one so we can see what it is like compared to his se.
