So many more questions need to be answered before anyone can tell you with 100% confidence what you should buy. Like budget, experience, space, area to fly. The only thing we could say with 100% confidence is start with a simulator. Then if you want to go electric I love my T-rex 500, small enough to carry most of the time in your car but almost as steady as my 600.

I wish I could fly 24/7

I second the simulator.... because no matter what kind of heli you get (starting from cx2 all the way to nitro) this will save you tons of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

oh man....here we go again...tsts102, your going to get several opinions, sometimes mini battles back and forth when asking this type of question on RR. simulators are great, but as far as purchasing your first heli let me suggest this:
find your local group of flyers and go spend a day hanging out at the field. watch how they set-up electric compared to nitro, notice the must have items for each.
talk to the pilots. ask good questions pertaining to thier specific copters.
think about the maintenance involved with a heli. parts support\tech. support etc.
the best advice and help i've ever gotten has come from my now fellow flyers at the local field.

hope you find the heli that's right for you

some who want to get into it get a simulator, and get to frustrated to buy a heli. So learn on the sim first.

It will help.

sinte, is correct that's also very good advice.

I was lucky, in the beginning i hooked up with an experienced pilot and bought the same heli and same radio he had.Oh yes, and a sim, also same one he had. Probably saved me a bunch of money.IMO, going it alone is not a good idea.....
