| This has been talked about at great length in the past. If you do a search I am sure you will find it. In order to get good fuel economy you would have to change the gearing. The compression has to be bumped up for starting and then lowered. In order to find the optimum compression setting you need to adjust it while at full power, which is not easy to do on a heli unless you tie it down (not recommended). The fuel is not conventional diesel fuel, it is kerosene, ether, and oil and it really stinks (smells). I did it years ago on a Concept 30 with a Supertigre 29 motor and it did work. I was never sure that I had the compression set right and was afraid I was going to destroy the motor so I went back to glow. I still have I think 3/4 of a gallon of fuel. If anyone in the area wants it it is yours. It still should be good, always stored at a constant temp in a metal can. |
