Align T-REX 600N 700N > T-REX 600N Zeal gyro tape

I switched to Zeal gyro tape recently and it seems the gyro is more sensitive to vibration with it vs. standard gyro tape. Definately more thick, but you can physically move the gyro easier with this tape.
Thoughts?

too hard and the gyro will drift, too soft and it will wiggle. Its a thin line between those two conditions.

What are you experiencing exactly?

Are you holding the gyro down with something else? Velcro? Rubber bands? Sometimes it gets better, sometime it gets worse depending on how tight the whole thing is.

I'm holding the gyro down with Zeal tape. It seems like the tail is shaking more now. If you grab the gyro by hand, you can see with the Zeal tape, you can move the gyro easily, with the standard tape, you can't move it as much.

It's a good thing there aren't any fingers that move your gyro around while you fly. The whole point is to have vibration absorbing material between the gyro and the airframe, and the material should be able to give when you touch it with your hand.

What gyro is it, where is the gyro mounted, and are you using a metal plate?

Lighter gyro's like the Spartan DS760 do not seem to be affected by the Zeal's squishy nature. I use a layer of Zeal, metal plate, then Futaba foam under my Spartan gyro front mounted. I have zero issues, and excellent results.

Lastly, vibrations can travel through the gyro sensor wire. Did you secure this wire with it wrapped in foam?

flag8r77: Yes I know but nothing else over the gyro? try putting a velcro strap or a rubber band over it to squeeze it on the zeal and test again

I just switched to the Zeal on my 600's and had to secure it with Velcro too - too much give otherwise and I had to turn the gain down too low or I'd get a wag (then HH was useless at that gain). I DO like being able to re-use the Zeal though, cool stuff.

BTW, you can reuse this type. Wash it with soap and water, blot dry, then take a dryer to it. Good as new and you don't have to re-buy it at the $15.99 price
