Ill say this, Im a thumber and I do have the tendancy to give unintentional rudder inputs. Tried some on the sim to go to the pinch, its hard. May be due to smallesh hands...........Im not too experianced either.

practice more and tighten the spring on the rudder channel and this can be eliminated

I'm NOT saying either one is better or worse I am saying everyone is different so you CANT say one is more precise than the other, its on an individual basis as there are some really really good thumb fliers out there and really really good picchers

also I am natuarally left handed so my left hand is always used in eveeryday life, people who are right handed may have some trouble with the left stick until they get used to it

I will tell you how I fixed this issue, stop flying in HH mode. Or buy a crappy gyro. I know it sounds stupid but it will force you to constantly adjust the tail as you fly, something folks with high end gyros never do. The gyro holds the tail all the time and you never learn how to make pitch+rudder adjustments. When I first started out, I had a GY240 and it was great. It made hovering much easier because it took the tail out of the control equation. Then later I bought a second heli and when I did I also bough an ESky HH gyro. That little gyro holds great when flying but in a stable hover, it slowly wanders the whole time. It also wanders more or less as the battery runs down and the head speed changes. At first I was always trimming it to make it stay put but later on I got to the point where I could fly a whole battery while holding the tail in place with a tiny bit of rudder input. I tell you, that really improved my left thumb.

Thats an interesting idea, it realy boils down to how calm you can be while flying, when I am relaxed and confident no problems, once I get apprehensive and tighten up I start to push the tail.

I also started flying a TxTray from RCA Models, it holds the TX so I dont have to, I just rest my fingers on the TX and fly with my thumbs, it gives me more freedom of movement.

On JR radio's dual rates will also slow the stick down around the center like expo does. It does more than just limit the end travel of the servo.

Uhhh.. On JR radios they just call the menu "DR and Expo". They're sort of grouped together, but they're still two separate functions. D/R only limits the throw of the servos. It will only change the way it feels at center stick because it affects the entire range -- including the outer limits.

Thats what he said, and thats why I use less EXPO at 85% DR than at 100%, I do I do

you know TJ, you really may be onto something there,as I learned to fly on a BLADE CP with RATE gyro, and you HAD to get good with your left thumb, simple as that. Then when I did get an HH gyro it was a G90 which was better but still liked to drift.
