Do you all use dual rates when doing 3d, thats one feature on my 9cap that ive never messed with. With my trex600n it flips slower then lets say the g4 sim

Dual rates lower the total throw of the servo at the flip of a switch. It has the effect of making the controls less sensitive and have less overall throw.

Expo makes them less (or more) sensitive in the center without effecting overall throw.

Lighter paddles or more throw (up to a point) will speed up your cyclic.

I have all my rates set at max on all three modes. I don’t have the grasp of the concept myself, and always open to suggestions. I believe, if I’m not mistaken, that this is what my manual suggested.

I run diff gain settings depending on which Idle up I'm in at the time but I dont think this is what Turbo is thinking of.

Dual rates for me do not work. What I mean to say that as a personal preference I don't like them other than programming the tail servo throw to be more aggressive with the dual rate switch. That is to say to increase the end points of the rudder.

For someone learning to hover I can see how a slight bit of exponential could be beneficial to deaden the center point and make perhaps a more rock solid hover, but then again, I don't use that either. I use the pinch method on the sticks, but you know, someone that uses thumbs would probably benefit a great deal using expo.

Read a thread about a month or so ago that was asking about expo. If memory serves most ended up sayin' they used some expo. Id say the average was 15-20 points. was very suprised. I have not tried to use it yet.

I always use 20% Expo on all my birds, keeps the bleed over from effecting the other servos. Settles it down and makes it fly nice and smooth.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I dont care for dual rates I use expo when needed. softens the center of the stick but doesnt compromise extreme travels.

Ditto. I like my servos operating there full potential. I've messed with rates before on my cyclics and it basically feels like it slows down the controls so its not so twitchy. An electronic means of doing so rather than the mechanical method with flybar weights per say. Try it yourself and expeirament. Be carefull you don't add to much.

DR

I find that dual rates helps make the heli more stable if you are just starting out.It slows it down not so twitchy smoother for f8s Rolls or nose in hover, funnel stuff like that helps you manage your collective. If you are haveing trouble managing your collective ie your motor bogs down or it's to twitchy, set your DR to like 85% its not much DR but it will help settle you and the heli down some.

Fly it ! Crash it ! Rebuild it ! Repeat as needed !!
