hovering blade 400 in front yard for trimming purposes, landed and touched tail boom, warm to touch, checked belt tension its good, everything is tight, would this be normal heli hovers great and tail holds good in forward and backward flight. thanks tommy

if it was flying good and not making any hellacious noise then keep going at it. probably nothing. my boom does get warm when the sun shines ,, its black ya know.

how far away can it get? oh that far huh?

thanks madman thanks dood, it wasnt sunny outside, and its not making any hellacious noises no shakes no shimmies only a warm tailboom, i guess i never noticed it before. thanks

the only way a mechanical malfunction could induce heat is by some moving part, such as a bearing on a shaft , that could be bad,overtightened ect. remove the boom if you want and check bearing and shaft smoothness. but i would just beat the snot out of it

thanks again ive only been flyin for about 3mos ive only had the 400 about a month with 2 wrecks main shaft feathering shaft and bent tail boom 1st time oh yeah and servos ive got the dsp75 programables in it now am thinking of going to something with metal gears is that wise? and by the way the first time i got one (heli) off the ground i was friggin hooked love flyin it now im gonna crash but if i can prevent it i would rather fix something before a crash.
