Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > O Hawk Pro with OS 37 Headspeed Question/Temp Question GV-1/Carbsmart

I am a new pilot, been flying since last September. I just purchased a governor and carbsmart for my Hawk and wanted to know what a good temp setting will be on this motor and what a good headspeed would be given I am running the 9.6 gear ratio. I have a Hatori Pipe on the Hawk if it makes any difference. I heard that setting the carb smart at 100c (200F) is a good setting and I am estimating that my Governor should be set at about 1925 which will put my engine rpm at 18400 approx. Is this right, I heard that you need to set the governed speed a little higher than the top power output speed of the engine which is approx 18000. I was wondering what you guys would reccomend or if I am pretty close to where I need to be?

If it makes any difference I am running Byron's 22.5% Heli fuel.

Thank you,
The people in this forum have been quit helpful in the past.

Just make sure you are running composite blades at that HS. Everything else sounds good though.

""I heard that you need to set the governed speed a little higher than the top power output speed of the engine which is approx 18000""

well it all comes down to keeping that rotor head and the wood blades safe !!

I would not run wood blades at a Head Speed over 1800/1825,,

and I would not run that head over 1850 without thrust bearings,, those would be MY rules if it was my Hawk Pro,,

now I know many pilots have probably run that Hawk Pro setup without thrust bearings with wood blades higher,, but I would not,,

buy thrust bearings and buy carbon blades and you can run your OS 37 up to 18000 engine speed..

head temp,,
yeea, 200/210 not any more I would think..
