Obviously you guys dont like the 401/9254 for a Raptor 60 and larger, what do you like for a machine this big? What should I be looking for?

611 combo works pretty well. Or the 611 with the bls 251 or a solid G with either the 9256 or bls251

I have tried CSM, Solid G, GY611 and Spartan. The Spartan gyro with a BLS251 rudder servo blows away all the others.

My personal ranking:
1. Spartan DS760
2. GY 611
3. Solid G
4. CSM

The BLS251 makes them all hold better. That’s a truly amazing servo.

Is the JR 770 3D gyro on anyone's "good to use on a Raptor 60/90" list?

Really?! What type of flying do you do? I'd love to use the 401. I own 5 of them and would love not having to add another gyro to the fleet.

hi there martyh

i fly very sporty and the 401 holds really good, flips, loops and backwards no trouble.i swear buy the 401 it is my all time best gyro.you can ask most pilots that use the 401 on there 90 and the answer would be the same....but at the end of the day it is down to how much you want to spend and personal prefrence, regards helinelly

Gyro...

finding the "Right" gyro really has to do with how much you want to spend and what your level of flying is?

I have tried most every gyro out there except the spartan and here's how I would rate them personally....
Mikado Vbar/Solid G
Gy601/611
Csm 720
GY401

I don't spend too much time worrying about gyros these days...they all work very well...if you're good enough to feel the limitations of the gyros you're probably good enough to handle the weaknesses of the cheaper ones also..so it's not a big deal either way

I currently fly a few vbar machines, a couple of solid g's, a couple of gy611's and a few 401's as well as a couple of jr's...so my gyro usage is still VERY wide..

The JR 770 3d, is easily the best value. It holds great, easy to set up (like a 401) and the piro rate is very consistent. The Spartan, is a great gyro, and is the Solid G, though both cost a bit more, and don't have a gyro/servo "combo" to save a bit of money.

I fly a 401 and a hitec 6965 on both my 50 and 60. While I don't really do any piro intense flying I do some fairly high speed backward loops and sport flying like that and I can't say I've ever actually noticed a performance difference between the two machines and I've never felt like I needed the tail to do more than it does. But again, I don't think I demand much from my gyro anyway.

Agressive flying is what will bring out the weakness in the 401 which is piro consistency especially when fighting, or being pushed by, the wind.
