For peace of mind just send them in, why chance it. I've done it but do you really want to worry about it with your new bird all happy and proud in the air.

Rebuilding a servo is not rocket science. If you have any electromechanical experience, you can do it. Attention to detail, and careful assembly will insure reliable operation. Just buy the gear replacement kits, and replace them ALL for piece of mind. Contrary to popular belief, the most important part to replace is the wire lead (unless you are doing a crash repair, as you are). Most of them get stressed and strained until the wires start to fray inside the shielding/jacket. This usually happens right at the and of the strain relief. I just cut it off at the strain relief, push it through ad re-solder it. Good as new. I feel much safer after rebuilding my own, than I do sending them in and HOPING they do it right. Not to mention the cost difference and inconvenience of sending them in. Of course if you don't feel comfortable doing it, just sent them in.

thanks i have all the gear replacement parts, and have thought about just replacing them and installing in the heli but didn't know if there was anything else that a guy could do to make sure.i'am a caterpiller mechanic by trade and i would be more comfortable with the fact that i did the repair as for sending in.as for the wire i didn't know about that, other then to check there.that's why i posted this problem,i new you guys would come out and help with information.this site has be a big facter in getting me started and flying mj 2s without the help of sim's,not saying they not good help but just jumped in and started with the basics and had my share of crashes but have come a long way thanks to this form .catwrench

CatWrench, suggest you send them in. Caterpillar Mechanics working on small sensitive things, hmmm Unlike the servo's, with a Cat atleast if something is tight you don't force it, you just get a bigger hammer

Seriously though, just take your time and you'll save money and have the satisfaction of knowing you've done a good job.

The difference between a genius and a fool is that a genius has limitations.

CatWrench just send the servos in. They may or may not fail if you do the repair, but if they do fail you'll be beating your self up for not just sending them in in the first place.

Besides why take the chance with that nice new joker 2?
