The EX swash plate is an optional part which is made of metal to replace the plastic swash plate.
Is it advisable to use this part or just use the standard plastic plate? I would have thought the EX metal swash plate would be better as a lot of stress is placed on the plate especially on SWM.
But then again I maybe wrong.

I've been running the stock SWM swashplate for the last couple years and see no need for the metal upgrade other than it looks cool.

i have been flying my Evo for 130 flights now and cannot find any wear on the swash. Its good quality plastics Hirobo style. Regards Pete

The only plastic part of the stock swash is the lower ring assembly. The aluminum upper ring assembly is machined into a thin tube that extends through the radial bearing and is then expanded at the bottom. This keeps the radial bearing tight in the plastic lower ring.

While it is possible to have play develop between the radial bearing and the plastic lower ring, this is not as common as you might expect. It is also quite easy to solve by threading a few grub screws into the ring to press against the bearing.

The most common failure on the stock swash is cracking of the plastic where the link balls are threaded into the plastic. This usually is the result of not pre-threading these points. I have several years of flying Evos and have not had any problems with the stock swashplates.
