Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Muffler for Hawk pro w/OS37

Hello people, I would like to know you opinion on the mufflers below, I might buy one of the list for my Hawk pro with OS 37 engine.

Century TORPEDO SPEED HV MUFFLER (30 size)
CN3033

Century SILENT POWER MUFFLER (30-40 SIZE)
CN3037

Revolution .30 HELI MUFFLER
RVO1130

Are they any better than the stock one? My engine tends to run a little hot (15% nitro and high altitude) Will a better muffler help my engine run at lower temps or it will go hotter?

Thanks everyone. Maybe Phil can tell me something about century's muffler on the list above...

Thanks again for your answers.

David.

The CN3037 is much better then either of the other two.

It was specially designed to be properly tuned to the OS37.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

will my engine run hotter with that muffler? will it have more power?

Thanks.

Hotter? I would think that Hotter would have to due with tuning and % of nitro used at your altitude than the muffler. Of course a clogged muffler and out of tune, any engine will/can run hot.

So Dilbeck, if I understand you, engine temperature will not change if I use a better muffler?
Could you pelase explain to me all benefits that I will have if I change to a better muffler?

Thanks.

Engine temperature will change with a different muffler if you leave the settings the way the are now. Engine temperature is consistent with tuning, temp outside, rpm and altitude. I noticed a big change from the stock muffler to the silent power one. 1) the pressure to the fuel tank was higher. 2) the engine was much Quiter. 3)it idled better and was much easier to tune. I felt that with his muffler I got more power, better idle and went from 30% nitro to 22.5% with the same power. The engine had to be totally re tuned to match the muffler. The heat was the same for I tuned it based on the temperature and sound. Overall it was a win-win....

To really get into it would take way to much time typing.

Suffice it to say that larger volume (and the CN3033 has a LOT larger effective volume then the stock black one, and the CN3037 again has a lot more volume then the CN3033) will allow the engine more "breathing room" so that the engine can actually run cooler at needle settings that will even allow it to develop more power.

They will also allow the engine to transition better from idle, through to hover and right on up to full throttle (of course that is assuming one has properly matched his throttle settings to the pitch curve) as it will allow the idle/hover needle(s) to be better matched to the main needle.

And now, add to that internal baffles, that "tune" the engine to its optimum designed rpm power band, and one will even get more power and better transitioning.

So don't hesitate - get the CN3037!!

What Old Fart said, I new he would correct any and all my trying to explain for he has the experience and knowledge needed. He has helped me many a times in my need to better understand.

CN3037 Is that the one that comes with the Toki-.40? If so, it works great with an OS 37.

It looks like the 3037 except I dont recognise the band where it connects to the engine. Maybe an older style one?

did a some searching turns out to be a Toki muffler

Wow the difference between the stock and this one is night and day

engine runs cooler and has way more power.I was able able to lean out the high speed needle to about 1 1/4 turns out using 15% nitro
and the engine still runs cool.
with the stock mufler it ran hot at 1 3/4 turns out and the power was terrible.

I really recommend changing out the stock muffler

I'm all

Thanks people, you convinced me, I'm getting the 3037!! As a matter of fact you not only convinced me but made me WANT that muffler.
I'll also buy OS A3 plugs as Phil recommended for my high altitude flying (5000 ft) low nitro (15%) and high engine temp...

It's good to have RR especially for lone pilots like me who just can't find people to fly and learn with.

THANKS AGAIN!

David.

Glad yu discovered something I have been preaching for many years - I see so many people ad so much relatively useless "bling" to their helis, when they should be spending it on a better muffler, servos and Gyro, before anywhere else!
