I'm looking for a Hirobo 90 size Heli and i came accross a Freya and X-Spec....Which one would be more to repair and upgrade... my funds are limited but i still want a 90 heli..Is the Freya the best route to go? or should i just go all out and get a Raptor 90...just want to know which would be more practical for parts..i'm no 3D..im still in my Hovering mode but just want a Large looking Heli...

One thing I've noticed about the Freya is that they can be cheaply bought from here or EBay. Last year I purchased two, one with a YS 90 and one that was just the airframe with the blades for cheaper than a new Raptor 90. I had to look for a couple of months but I was able to get some pretty good deals. Also with the potential of a new hirobo 90 coming out there might be more people dumping their 90's for the newest and best, neither of what my current skills require (at least yet).
BTW I did buy 2 x-specs, which people where probably dumping to buy the evo 90, I'm guessing.

There are just so many options out there, so many 90 and 50 sized helis.

For example, the Compass ODIN should be available soon and at an extremely competitive price - much lower than any other helis will be able to compete with. You could get a new heli for the price of today's second hand 90s.

There are lots of helis going second hand, great bargains can be had but you need to know what to look for. Why are you thinking of a Hirobo heli?

Sorry for the long note, I didn't have time to write a short one.

I have a Freya Evo 90 with a YS91SR and love it. Rons has a good deal going if you can get in on it. You get the Freya with Evo and E-xspec heads for the first 4 byers. And it cost the same as the Evo. Kinda kicking my self right now.

This is the Hirobo Freya i'm getting...Before i make this decision, i would at least like to get a couple of responses please letting me know if this is a good deal...He's throwing in a started, pump and Glow i think Now what i need to know is,,,,is parts expensive for that Heli? is it a lot of maintenance? I dont do 3D at all..i'm just hovering and Flying Side to Side mildly. I will be doing that for a good while..
If i were to get a 50 size Hirobo instead,,,would that be close to the same size as this 90 size? I have to determine wether this is for me..i downloaded the photo. Check out the Link below and give me some feedback if you can...it's on RCUniverse..

I have 4 Hirobo's right now. Sceadu Evo 30, Sceadu Evo 50, Freya Evo 90, and a Shuttle Plus. Compared to the 90 the two 30s and the 50 are toys. The 90 did not look much larger until you put them side by side. The 50 is a good machine. I usually toss it around for fun. The picture below shoes the first three together. The 50 looks slightly smaller. 600 mm vs 710 mm blades. and the 90 weighs more. Just for comparison.

So which is the 90..to be honest they all look the same...is the 90 the last one on the right? if that's so im wondering now if i should get a 50 size that way parts wont be so expensive if i crash...What do you think of this one on ehay..it's a 50 size...if i were to put this one on ebay next to your 90 do you think it would be like a WOW the 90 is BIGGER expression?
link to the ebay item is below...

The one on the right is the 90. The 50 is nicer in a lot or respects. Slightly smaller, lighter, power to weight is good, maybe not as much as the 90. Lower fuel consumption. Cheaper all around.

Edit:

Most of the guys I fly with fly 50's, I think I am the only 90. When they see the 90 they all say WOW that is big. They don't expect it to be as larger as it is.

Hey rhampton the freya that you are looking at is one of the first ones to come out before the xspec or evo 90.

Yes they are relatively expensive to repair compared to a 50 sized model. And if your just starting to hover, I would say you have a lot of crashing ahead of you. (just apart of the hobby)

What are you learning on now? is it considerably smaller than a 50 or 90 size.? If you are flying a small electric even the 50's will fly more stable, easier and have more presence in the air.

If you are on a limited budget and are just learning, a good 50 sized heli is def the way to go. And as far as the 50 evo, its a great ship and can be set up to fly very stable, and then when you are ready it can be quickly set up to fly 3-d.

I have a Esmart 600 electric Heli..it's a 30 size heli. i just want something that's really big....That's an attraction and a desire for me,,is to have a big heli in the sky,,the bigger it is the more enjoyable it is to watch...i cant get a fuselage for my Heli cause it's a fairly new heli so that's why i want a 90 size....i am pretty good at hovering and going side to side..That's pretty much all i can do..i have no interest in 3D..Photo of my heli is below...I am starting to get confused now..by looking at those photos,, i see that there isnt that much difference but if u say it is, them maybe i just need to see more photos of a 90 and a 50 next to each other to be convinced....i have to let this guy know by tomorrow morning so if anyone can come to my aid,,,,please send as many photos as u can either by uploading it here or emailing it to me @ rhampton1914@gmail.com
i do feel performance is good but i dont want to get another heli that's pretty much the same size as mine...i might as well keep mine..i want a LARGER HELI.....ha ha......i sound like a little kid...lol

The 90 size machines are really nice to fly and yes they do seem alot bigger in the air. However, the crash cost is high. That being said if you are just starting out and are on a budget I would go with the 50 size the sceadu evo 50 is a great machine and with a few upgades can come pretty close to a freya 90 performance wise.

If you can afford it the 90 is the best flying of the bunch and a plastice fantastic EVO 90 will be perfect for how you are flying. The 90's are very stable and hardly affected by wind. Any Hirobo heli will fly a long time before parts start to wear out. The design of the plastic parts and quality is second to none. The helis do not need any upgrades. Just fly, fuel, fly and when done wipe them down and they are ready for next time. I have hundreds of flights on mine and I have never had a failure of any kind. I cannot say the same for the other brands I have tried. Check my gallery as I have owned and flown alot of helis and IMHO Hirobo is the way to go and a 90 if you can afford it is also second to none. Hope this helps. I would just buy a new stock plastic EVO 90 and enjoy the build. You will have a heli that will last for years and years.

Thanks for the Advice...i decided what i'm gonna do...i'm gonna hold on to my money and wait 2 months. During that time i'm gonna drill myself and learn forward Flight and learn how to Fly in a Circle and all the basic moves...Once i get that down or even a little good i'm going to Invest in a 90...My Heli is already like a 50 size and tooooo many people told me that some people's 1st heli was a 90...At
least i have had some exposure to Flying already and when i do get my 90 i'm just gonna take it really slow...get help at the park...Before i get a 90,,,all those guys at my local park will know that i can fly basic Pattern Flying and at that point bringing a 90 wont be much of a embarrasment...So i say July would be a time i might start looking again @ 90 size Helis...It's a dream to have a 90 and i wanna fulfill that dream even tho the crash cost may be more than a 50..i just have to deal with those consequences myself,,,the main issue is safety at my local heli park..I need to know as well as the guys there that i can fly comfortably and have some confident that i can move up to such a Heli...

I hope i made some sense here....

My advice to you is to stick to whatever you are flying now until you are proficient at it. Like you said, you are still on hovering stage which means you are relatively new to this hobby.
Chances are that you are gonna crash quite a fair bit & the 90 is gonna cost you a bomb to repair & not to mention replacement of parts. If you are flying a Sceadu Evo 50 now, stick with it as you know they have "Crash parts kit" which consist of the main mast, stabilizer bar, tail boom & feathering spindle.
To the best of my knowledge they do not have 'Crash parts kit' for the 90 which speaks for itself.

YES, you made perfect sense! Doing SELF PSYCHOANALYSIS on yourself as you just did, is FREE of charge HERE! Your interpretation of self analysis and your unconscious conflicts that are interfering with your current-day functioning -- conflicts that are causing your painful symptoms such as phobias of heli size & cost, anxiety of heli size & cost, depression of a small heli and high cost of an 90, and compulsions regarding the procurement of a EVO 90 have now been resolved by you alone!

better solution

ok Guys,,,sorry for the confusion....I am starting to like the idea of a 50 size heli....as long as it has some nice large looks to it...
Check out this Link..it's a 50 size...here are the photos below...it almost passes for a 90 size to me just by looking at the photos....so i'm wondering if i should get this one and at least parts will be cheaper just for the simple fact that it is a 50 size.....much cheaper and less headaches and stress....even tho the heli may be a little older what do you think of this one...He is selling all eletronics with it...

Please advise...........might not get a 90 after all...
