Here's what I don't get about align: they release a heli that has a bunch of "little" problems. It flies great though and people deal with the issue until Align fixes the issue then SELLS you the fix.

YEP!! They have been doing this since the start and yet everyone things that they are the next greatest thing since toast, since they are cheap.

IMO,

Cheap = Junk.

Most of the time anyways.

Wont touch another Align product.

Makes no difference, success is based on sales. Align sell lots of helis, so they are successful regardless of what is posted here and I have absolutely no doubt the 700 will out sell the aroura by a long way, junk or not. I fly Align, not going to rush out and buy a 700 but I accept poor quality bearings because I know I can replace them with better quality bearings from a different supplier.

I have align heli's and have been drooling over the 700. I drooled over the aurora for over a year now though. I think since it is no longer an urban legend I will be making my order for an aurora.

Forget the 90 size Aurora, Manufactures are already building the 120 size and will be out very soon. 90s have come and gone.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

Sorry, I made that up! Was wishful thinking. That would be something though wouldn't it? I want something bigggg!!! Anybody and everybody is making the 90 size, why not something bigger? Question is, why did they stop at the 90?

If it doesn't fly sell it!

Stopped at 90 for 3d because 15cc is the largest model you can compete with. This rule was there before 90 size (15cc) helis were manufactured.

Now we will see how long it's going to take for the first average Joe Blow to get his hands on a kit.
Until then it is "still" vapor ware.

I still wonder why everyone is so in love with Align products. Is it just the cheap prices? Will you all by Chinese cars when they arrive? The Aurora is a different story. How many stores gave up on Carbon Extreme when they were just making fins and frames due to a lack of product avaliability. One thing Align does do well is flood the market with constant new products. Although most are fixes at least they put out a large volume. How are all these Aurora owners going to feel when there $2000 bird is sitting there with no parts.

Have you ever flown an Aligh Heli? If not, you need to, then you'll know. And yes, cheap and available spares along with simple easy to work on designs make them a hit. Yes, I'd buy a Chinese car if it offered the same value for money that Align products do. Plus they'd have to look good of course. I don't care where something comes from, if it represents value for $$, I will buy it.

I have flown everyone but the 600N and I have crashed everyone due to mechanical failures. I have had swashes seperate, ( and yes I know there is a fix I can do and have done with success) , I have had blade grips seperate and launch blades at me. I have had to reset up every heli from scratch after a crash due to the large variance in parts. SO Yes a 90 size machine with engineering issues worries me. But enjoy your heli's. I am an engineer who has been forced to deal with outsourcing to China and I have since retired from engineering because of it. So until you deal with the quality issues and the troubles I have had with the Chinese you will still enjoy the cheap helis as that is all they are but don't try and tell me they are quality machines. How many different versions of parts have they produced. They just release them and let you do there product validation. I just hope you have your insurance up to date.

Well the 600 series was really Align's first attempt at a quality heli so if you haven't built and flown one, it's kinda hard for you to comment right?

Even the Koreans are getting their act together WRT to cars. I think Chinese (or Taiwanese in this case) goods are getting better all the time and this will only increase. Fly what you like, Align presents GREAT value for $$ for me. It would seem I am not alone in my sentiments judging by their sales.

It just sounds to me like you are pi$$ed that you lost your job to a Chinese company...

There is no dispute that the Aurora is a better quality heli than the 700N in terms of machining and materials quality.

They look to be equally capable in flight and the million dollar question is will the 700N require a bunch of upgrades like most of their past helis...

zoom, MOST helicopters (and every other consumer product) come from that region of the world.
Not all have significant issues, or some are just not worth mentioning.

Some kits have more problems than others.

But you're right, and most will agree, that the end user shouldn't be the beta tester.

A helicopter can kill you. A part failure increases those odds.
Any other potentially dangerous or hazardous product, whether it be a car, power tools, electronic device that could pose as a fire hazard etc... Gets a product recall. Never will the manufacturer SELL you a fix, but instead they fix it or send to you free-of-charge the fix.

But that for sure doesnt hold true in this hobby of ours, and with certain brands in particular.

A helicopter from conception to retail market in a matter of a few months, IMO, is totally unacceptable.

Im not Mr. Lebowski, YOU'RE Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dood! So thats what you'll call me

I did not lose my job...I quit to get away from the issues of dealing with outsourced products. My job used to be to design and release products, when the chinese got involved I became a high cost babysitter. I have flown the 600E but apparently that was not a quality product nor are the 450SE,SEV2. The heli's fly fine but to say they are high quality is quite amusing. Fly what you like and you are right the Chinese are catching up because people like me and you, if you are flying them, are forced to teach them how to engineer products. Never a recall just a "fix" everyone buys and feels because they are cheap it is OK. I like to build and fly helis. Not do Align's product validation. The speed that these are released shows they are not doing a proper product validation. That is what I have been dealing with for 5 yrs with outsourcing. When I go over there and watch and babysit all is fine. Usually about a week after departure the crap returns.
