Ok well i am a semi noob. I have the Realflight sim, I have been using it a lot, but got out of it when my Art Tech Falcon 3D took a dive for the worse and the parts just kept on adding up... I have also the blade cx 2 and can fly that well. so i am looking possible for a new heli and would like to get suggestions for a new one. I really like the trex 450 but dont know if i can spend that kind of money right. But i am looking to get a good one even if i have to save the money for a bit

i know ill get some flak for this but the blade 400 is a very good machine. a trex is the ticket but they get pricy to build nicely

I'll second the b400 motion. Plus you have a 2.4g radio for when/if you buy the trex/another heli.

This topic has been argued to death. You should probably check some of the other threads and you'll get alot more info. I'm sure many people are reluctant to go over it again. I'm also sure this won't be the last time.

Getting a computer SIM is always a good plan, too. Crash costs are extremely low.

The older I get, the shorter my attention....... Oh look. A shiny penny..

Yeah, if I had to do it all over again I'd buy the sim first.

There's alot more where that came from. Just type in "Blade 400 beginner trex 450" and you should end up with a pretty hefty list.

PM sent.

Ill ring in for the Blade 400 as well, No I do not own one but have seen a few and for a sub $500 bird with a very able radio I think it's the best starting deal out there. That said I really do think a 30 size is best to start on, MUCH more stable. Me I went with a Hawk Sport and now the HawkPro is only $200,of course electronics, motor and muffler, Radio, etc etc brings that starting price up over $900, so likley not in the running based on the post.

Blade 400

I second and highly recommend the blade 400 because this heli provides allot of room to grow. Best bang for your buck and it is already equipped with 2.4 ghz technology.

Do lots of reading here on RunRyder. Find out where the local guys fly and stop by,ask lots of questions.Go back several times. Check out your local hobby shop but be carefull not all shops are into helis enough to give good answers.

The Blade 400 is about the best decent, hobby quality heli out there for the money. The Trex 450 is honestly not a whole lot more.Something to seriousy look at.

BUT, if you really want into this hobby figure on spending at least a $1000.00 to $1500.00 to get started in a nice nitro.

Trust me , RC helis are NOT cheap. Most of us have just decided that it's what we want and just do it!!!

Very VERY important. Many people assume that the dude behind the counter knows what he's talking about. Heli's are the most complicated thing in that store. Don't be afraid to ask for the "heli guy".

Lets not even go into phase. I'd say that even the majority on here thatt can actually fly good don't know much about it. Myself included. I know what it is and that's about it.....

That makes 2. Dosen't mean I'm not a heli guy though. Or at the very least an educated wannabe.

Good point, check out the classifieds here. Many times you can get a used heli or even a new heli for a decent price.

One thing people find out the hard way is that you will need to be ready to spend a minumum of $700 to do this hobby right. This includes the B400 as you are going to need more than one battery to enjoy it. Plus you need to be ready to buy lots of spare parts. An average crash for a 450 sized heli is probably about $30. So you should only start this if you can handle the cost

Right on TJ. Everyone always forgets to mention parts and tools. You can expect to drop another $100 on tools.

Absolute must have's
Good set of allen wrenches. Cheap ones will strip bolts
Good set of screwdriver style allen wrenches
Yes you need 2 sets of allen wrenches, feathering shaft takes 2 of the same size for example.
Blade Balancer
Ball link pliers
Good fine screwdriver set
Loctite

Remembor these are the BASICS. Once you realize the better your heli is maintained and tuned the better (and easier) it will fly, you'll be buying more tools and gadgets in no time.

Oh yeah, don't forget about ebay. Lots of people selling b400's.
