Hi Folks...

I am currently using a 10S4P (8 amp) Lipo setup for my Logo 24 (scale OH-58A) and Logo 14 (scale MH-6)...

These packs are going on 3 years old and have hundreds of flights on them... They can't last forever...

My flybarless OH-58A get about 18 mins of flight time with power to spare...

I want to build a set of A123 packs to see how they work...

My plan is to make 2 each 5S2P packs tied together to make a 10S2P A123 setup...

Has anyone make any 2P packs???

If you want the same headspeed as the lipo packs were giving without having to re-gear then go 12s2p A123. They should be good for up to 10minute flights in a scale ship depending on your weight. They can also be hidden in the fuselage and charged safely in the heli which is a bonus for scale.

I run them in my Joker2. Have a look in my gallery. Feel free to PM if you wish.

regards

Fergus

Hi fergus

Completed my 1st A123 5S2P pack tonight...

I am using a Thunder Power 1010C changer and 210V balancer...

What voltage do you set the changer to???

My understanding is 3.6 volts @ .3 amp for the 1st charge???

I believe that sounds right,

tech file on A123 batt that gives recommended charge ratings.

Hi Folks...

Got the pack assembled and started testing...

Here is the pack next to one of the 5S4P packs...

Here is initial testing...

Question: Since I run a 10S4P set-up... Ignoring the voltage drop between the STD Lipo and the A123... What are the issues with a 4P (8amp) and 2P (4amp) in series to create a 10S set-up???

I only have 1 5S2P A123 pack currently...

The voltages are not an issue (I believe they are simply added), but I am not sure about the parallel current... Does this just reduce the flight time compared to my original 10S4P set-up???

Hi RappyTappy... Thanks for the link, very helpful!!!
