e-BEAM Beam E4 > looking at the beam

Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a Beam and I have a few questions. I'm thinking of that $600 combo from advantage hobbies. Is that a good setup? Good batt, servos, esc, and motor? Also I have a 401 sitting around and I was wondering if that gyro would work with that jr tail servo that is included? Also I want to get several additional batteries and an inexpensive charger. What would y'all recommend?

Thanks!

The combo is a good deal. The ESC and Motor is really powerful but if you want more power, then you should look at the scorpion motors. Also with the servos I would recommend you buying the HS-65MG's. They are super durable and I've never stripped one in a crash.

I'm not sure about the gyro but I'm guessing It should work.

Brian,

The combo that Advantage Hobbies sells will work. Like Phil said the Scorpion motor will give you a little more power if you prefer that setup. I hear that you can call Advantage and they will make you a combo with the Scorpion motor if you prefer that one. The JR281 servos seem to work pretty good but the HS65 servo are really the way to go, in the long run.

Your 401 gyro will work as well. I have one of my Beams with the 401/9257 combo and the other one has the Spartan 760 with JR 3400. Both work well.

As everyone knows, I am a big Thunder Power lipo fan.
Here is what I would recomand get you 3 or 4 3s TP extrem V2's 2200 mah packs and Thunder Power 610C charger it has the built in balancer. Then you will be set to charge all day long

Since you are in Prove, once you get it let me know and I would be happy to help you out

Hey blbills

I'll be up there flying at the orem site this weekend and hopefully will have my beam with me (waiting on parts :rolleyes if you wanted to take a look at it. I'm running the Align 430XL motor and ESC with Flightpower Evo25 2170 packs and that is a good setup! Is the combo motor from advantage the 430L or 430XL anyone know?? If I replace the motor I'd probably get the scorpion 2221-8 motor, I don't need any more power and I've heard that 2221-6 motor is tough on packs.

I'm actually up in Seattle for the month, but thanks for the helpful tips. This heli is actually for my dad, and he's not into the crazy 3d stuff like me but I'd love to set him up with a sweet heli.

If you are not into maximum performance (smaller flight time) you and your dad will really enjoy this combo.

It's a nice flying machine, very easy to setup, strong and powerfull but still very stable.

keep us updated on how you like it!

This is what I have so far:

Motor Scorpion 2221-8
ESC Align 35 amp BL ESC w/gov
Batteries TP 2200mah extreme v2
Servos JR pf300h Servo Set (3xDS285, DS3400G)

Has anyone heard about the Hyperion EOS606 charger from amainhobbies? I'm just looking for a decent lipo charger in the $100 price range if you have any good ideas.

Thanks!
