ok heres the deal
i bought a used stinger 50 from a friend which bought it on rr and never put it together
anyway after getting it together setup and flying it has a real bad tail up and down vibration
i replaced the entire tail with another on still the same problem
changed the flybar still the same problem
it has the all metal head main shft checked out and so did the spindal
also tryed different blades
but when i took the main gear out the bottom c clip was not in the auto hub
would this cause the vibration ?
heres my set up by the way

A few things for you to check out in no particular order.

Blade balance, both weight and CG.
flybar centered
Paddles equal distant out
Tail blade balance.
fix the issues with the auto clutch. (a problem in the auto hub will usually create a buzz in the vertical fin, not a vertical vibration.)
check the fan and clutch for balance.
Check the condition and lube of the dampers.

Those are the first things that come to mind.

WELL just spoke to david at gohbee and the c clip on the bottom of the hub of the main shaft is only put on if you do not want the constant tail drive
but i did find that the main gear and tail drive gear is a little out of round when i put them on a spin balencer so i ordered the whole main gear assy
i have the older version on it
now he discounted some parts to help me out whih i think is by far the best customer service i have ever had from any heli i have ever owned
he took the time to help me out and answered all the questions i asked
thanks for your help

well after countless parts bought and hours of changeing things i think i have found the problem the side pully behind the main shaft for the tail belt is extremely wore down and the pully wont stay in where it is supposed to
when you spin the main shaft you can see it jump around and it looks like it is going up and down
so now i need main frames

A couple of things to check

1. Is the tail rotor turning the right way? Forward side of the tail rotor should move up.

2. Is there a twist in the belt?

3. The pullies should have a plastic spacer on each side of the bearings to hold the pulley in the correct position in the frame.

4. It is possible to put in the pullies and not have the axle fully seated in the slot in the frame. This would cause the belt to run to one side and wear out the pulley quickly.

I have seen the pulleys wear out, but never saw one damage the frames.

Looks to me that the tail vibe you were hunting could have caused this. This may be an effect of the tail vibe rather than the cause. In fact, you may have solved the original tail vibe issue when you swapped out the various parts. However, becuase the frames were now worn you may have been getting another vibe from this problem. Just a thought.

It is hard to tell from the pic but I am not sure that that frame wear will hurt anything.
It looks like there is no wear at the back of the axle slot where the spacer bushing will sit.
In fact it looks like the spacer bushing was missing and the hub of the pulley was rubbing the frame.
As David said, It is hard to tell if this caused the vibration or the vibration caused this.
