I am going all 2.4. I have a dx7 and a 72 meg 9303. I'm selling them both and just getting one 2.4.

I like JR. I am wondering if the features gained on the 12x would be worth the asking price over the 9303. Seems quite feature packed after reading through the manual. I know I could use a few of them.

the DX7 really helped the dancing swash on my 600N after changing from the 9303 72 mhz. Still needed a couple of mixes to eek out the rest and it's still not perfect.

I dont believe the 12X will make a huge difference to my flying ability especially after seeing guys that fly well use a dx7, 9303 etc however I wonder if the features available may help in a few areas that have been difficult to sort out like interactions etc and I am thinking of some scale stuff so being able to take gear up slowly on the heli programming would be nice. It woulod certainly be able to handle any future projects even up to turbine jets.

Switch assignability would be very nice to have. Are the quad bearing gimbals noticeably smoother?

Would you buy one for bragging rights or does the feature set entice you? Certainly looks nice.

Does the futaba 12 channel give it a run for it's money?

Give us your thoughts.
I talked to a shop yesterday and they said it was due out 2nd week of may and expected it to be around the $1400 mark.

Hey Helinutnz,

I have been following the 12x since the day I heard about it. It is a very nice looking and feeling radio. It is not going to make you a better flier, no radio will. The gimbles feel very good but I can't say they felt much better than the 9303.

It will help with some interactions you have but I can't believe you can't mix them out on the 9303. I too went from the DX7 and now have the 9303 2.4 and miss 3 things on the 9303.

Backlite screen
Servo slow on the helicopter side
Timer assignability on the stick or switch

Being able to assign any switch would be nice but once you assign or are used to switch placement I don't think most of us are going to change that.

The 9303 is an awesome radio. As for retracts on a heli you can buy the "goslow" which is $25 but it does not have individual endpoints, like the 12 would have. That is what I am doing right now on my bell 222 project.

I don't think most people could outgrow the 9303. Honestly I don't see most growing out of the DX7. The 12X is going to be bought simply for bragging rights, people who what the 3 additional things I mentioned above (like me), or because of scale or turbine applications.

hm yes I'd tend to agree.

I have the 9303 on 72 mhz already and it's great.

If I am going to have one radio only and can afford it I may go for the 12X to have those "niceties" for the possible scale advantages etc.

I'm trying to justify it to myself as I realise it wont make me any better at flying. But one radio for the next ten years maybe???? perhaps I'll splash out a bit and get the goodies.

cheers for your thoughts

Does anyone know how much bigger the 12x is physically over the 9303?
I checked JR's website and the manual and there is no mention of the size.
The reason I'm asking is that I moved up from the 9303 to a 12FG for the added channels and maybe it's just me, but right out of the box I did not like the "feel" of the 12FG as far as switch placement.
I became busier then normal and haven't changed over to the 12FG yet.
(I just measured the two Tx's and the Futaba switches along the top row are about 5mm farther away from the center stick position.)
So I'm thinking about selling the 12FG and getting the 12X. It may just all be in my head, but I'd like to see how the 12X compares.
Thanks

Its based on the 10X chassis and is roughly the same size as the 9303, slightly heavier.

12X is not just for bragging rights, although it's cool.

12X is good for scale jets and helicopters. 12X is good for guys with camera ships. We need more channels and switches for multiple applications.

12X is good for bragging rights although it's got great applications for those whom need more than 9 channels.

I've never been one to care about what others think in regards to the gear I have bought so bragging rights I'll leave up to the guys that like to show off. I'm more interested in the functionality of it and yes I do have to like the way things look as asthetically I still have to please myself with what I buy.

So the 12X looks the part for me.
The scale applications may future proof me as I have been toying with the idea of doing some scale.
The jets are not on the horizon yet but you never know.
The ability to mix out all interactions in CCPM is important.
