Fair enough

Lets just say your idea of what constitues a pro and mine differs.
None of them where forced to get into the thread
Keep in mind there are others in this thread who dont indulge in insult but stick to the topic and get no hassle from me and Im happy to debate the topic with them.

"slammed", hardly.
If I do slam someone here youll know the diff beleive me.

Chads pic may be nice but he wants critique on how I think it could be improved. Using some basic rules applied Ive offered a critique.
Just telling him its a great shot does him no good.

Your are right about the horizon but the problem is the horizon is possibly best removed from this particular shot from a critical POV of it.

By all means show the distant sky if you can get it to look good.
But not if it doesnt the rest of the shot (the good part) suffers for it.

Cheers

MPA and Daggit

Well I appreciate your comments and look foward to shooting more pictures soon. It was a hot, humid , and hazy day and this was actually my first picture done from my Raptor 30, my homemade mount, and a Fugifilm 2.1 mp Digital camera set on automatic. This is unedited.
I look foward to posting more pictures in the future for other peoples opinion on how it can be improved.

The background, mountains and sky is very nice in that #2 shot.

Nothing new to show for myself
I have to get my digital back on and do some more posting shots.
Ive had the SLR on it for a while and doing some works on it.

Just made up a new mount lower section with gearing and added a 5k feedback pot over the panning to smooth it out.
Plus added the mini cam via SLR viewfinder instead.
Had a bit of trouble with a long lens Greg used on it it got a bit of a wiggle (slight side to side blur) and showed up the limits of the pan and tilt servo drives with the extra weight (1.75 KG for camera and that lens)
All good now and only added 200 grams weight diff from the old mount after all done with a larger mount.

Cheers

The original size of these images are 9 meg. the reduction to under 100k makes them to look horrible.

Yep the compression for the net always costs in qual.
I like to crop as much as I can before to reduce the amount of reduction needed it seem to help some shots.

Thanksd Dave
What does exactly mean to crop it? Sorry for my little english and shoftware knowledge To reduce the image from 9 meg to 100K I pass from TIFF format to jpg and also reduce the image size from 2048 x 1536 to 640 x 480. The quality is reduced from 10 to 3 too.
What should I exactly do?

Hi Dave
This first one was made just one minute before the sun falls down the mountains.
the light was so poor that the camera in auto mode sets F2 at 1/50 speed.

The next ones were made one day after at 12.00 pm with enough light to set 1/500 and F7.1 and
1/500 F5.1 the panoramic town view

Looks like you missed the boat on the first shot buy a few minutes but it still took a clear shot at 1/50 so its working well damping.

One tip, with low light shots look for a building and if you cant see a good shadow off it on the ground your too late in the day.

Id suggest if you have any dayling shots you dont have a choice like weddings etc you keep a set of filters handy to throw on, specially for the horizons.

For those new to vibration isolation technique, I might suggest you get yourself a Barry Controls catalog. There's a good section in there reguarding proper isolation technique and selection.

Good stuff about Vibration, damping and isolation

But I think Barry mounts are working up to a point then you need some serious hard yards after that in testing to satisfy all the cameras you may carry.
The Bergen uses Barry mounts but still has vibration issues that limits it.

while its great to do your sums in design the real test is in the shots it takes.
I recommend using the camera to test the vibration is something best done early on without spending excess much time on the science detuning vibration that may or may not be relative to the camera.

Running the full range of shutter speeds on the stills and play speeds on video cameras can give you the whole vibration picture.
