i need info or parts for my first scale project. it is a VARIO "BIG" AIRWOLF. i understand that rivets can be bought on strips that ease the operation of placing the thousands of rivets. they stick and then the paint locks them on for good. any info or parts needed.thanks

Hello there

I have tried both the "drill way" and self adhesive, non of these two systems are easy or userfriendly, got a tip on the riverkit from starwoods and...well let me say this is far the best way to rivet a fuse, cheap, easy and if you mess up just wipe it away and make a new
one, I have about 1500 marks on mine Agusta and it took me two evenings to made it out and someone said this was a long time ..!

Just my opinion

Cheers Jack

I like the glue method myself. I've riveted my last few scale builds this way and I can normally knock out a fuse in two evenings. The other reason I like the glue method is you can change needle sizes, adjust your pressure or both to get different sized rivets.

Hi!

The glueing method is a very fast one. I have a short film for you: http://www.modellhubschrauber.at/hu...n_anbringen.wmv

Rivets

I have tried three methods.
1. The Vario plastic ones where I drilled and placed the rivet and put a solderign iron tot he back and gently melted the rear flush inside the fuz. Long way to do it but you get no sticking out. I did about 2500 on my Airwolf.
2. I got a kit from Scale aircraft company in the US, racking my brain for the name) It consisted of a roll of adhesive tape about 15mm wide and it had holes punched in, bit liek the old ticker tape, you then flood the holes with PVA and peel the tape off to reveal perfectly spaced rivets. Did that on my Cobra
3. I tried the starwood kit. Syringe and PVA. It is freehand. Mind you it still took me 7-8 weeks to do my Len Mount Lynx.

I, eventaully have opted for the starwood way of working its quicker, and more controllable. But the other two ways are equally as good. Which ever way you opt for, put some music on and get a nice cold beer. relax and enjoy it!

Keep us updated though..

Adrian

larry, I've been using the hirobo 0414-261 rivets for a couple of years now.I've used the glue and syringe method prior to hirobo and by far, they are the best.I build several scale helis a year and I can do a 60 size long ranger about 2000 perfectly spaced and lined rivets in 2 hours. They cost about 25.00 for a sheet of 1800 with 2 size rivets. You would need about 2 sheets to complete the various 60 size fuselage's.

I have used the vario stick on rivets on both my bolkows £40 for 4 strips. They worked well for me, yes I did loose a few here and there but in my case this matches the full size ones anyway which also have the odd rivet here and there missing.

try this link to the rivets.
it is on the MRC Hirobo site.

http://www.modelrec.com/search/search-results.asp

good luck

BTW I tried the link after I posted it and it did not go directly to the rivets.

go to the search block and put in the part number without the dash, all the numbers together.

a friend just gave me another alternative...R/CSCALEPRODUCTS.COM...they have perforated paper strips that you lay down, spread the glue, pull the strip off and presto...rivets. sounds like a good alternative, so i wanted to pass it along. thanks go to fellow RR member...maxturbine..larry

I have also tried to find RC Scale products, but can't find them anywhere.
A buddy of mine used their system and loved it.
If anyone finds them let us know, if not, I will be ordering the Hirobo rivets for my Long ranger project.
