Radio - Futaba FASST > Ended up going with a 14MZ 2.4!

I was looking at the 12Z and ended up getting a 14MZ.

I am not sure if it is really needed or not, and is most likely overkill for what I will be doing. I am most excited about the number of channels. I like gizmos and gadgets, and it will be fun to be able to have the control to operate them all remotely if desired.

Currently, I have three helicopters (Raptor 50 V2, Raptor 50 Titan, Pantera 50 (Scale MD530). Really, the only one that is furthest along in being built at the moment is the Pantera 50 for the scale fuse of the MD530.

The extra channels and programming functionality will make it easier to control some of the gadgets like the scale lighting system, switch glow, gv1 governer, and remote starting system.

I only hope this radio will last me...

I have an old friend who bought two (2) 14 MZ's because he wanted them! I have another acquaintance who bought two so he would have a buddy box for his kid. Transmitters last a long time.

I bought my first 14MZ used back in 2006, still paid a pretty penny for it. Not too long ago, Finless Bob decided he wanted to sell his, and I couldn't pass up the deal he offered to me.

I have been using his radio as a buddy box, and it's nice to know I have a spare should I need to send mine into Hobby Services.

I just did the exact same thing. Started out thinking about buying the 12fg, then thought, you know, i may as well buy the 12z since i buy radios once every 7 or 8 years or so...

Got to the store and some how ended up walking away with a 14mz Fasst system.

No regrets whatsoever. Its fantastic. Certainly more radio than i'll ever need, but who cares?

Regards,

Pars

My last 9ZHPS lasted close to 10 years. So I figure if 14MZ can last me another 10 years, that's only $200 a year plus whatever I get in resale. Certainly worth it. And I wouldn't have to post thread about "what did I miss by not getting what I wanted in the first place?"

I still have and intend to use my 9VHP - new battery, new pots, new antenna. Also have a 9Z and 12Z. When Futaba figures what they are going to do instead of 2.4 GHz, I will buy one of those also.
