Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Toki in a Hawk: Clutch installation question

Hey guys, just a quick question: I'm installing the clutch and fan on the Toki for my Hawk, and something doesn't seem right. When I put it together per the instructions, using the specified washers, the crank only protrudes far enough through the fan to go about halfway through the nut! That can't be right, can it?

I've taken it apart twice now to make sure I'm not doing something wrong, but it just doesn't seem to be long enough to get the threads at least flush with the nut on the front.

Sure does not sound correct...but I don't have that set-up to look at...sorry.

It's OK....It's not your fault !!!

Yep, that's the way it works with the Toki. It won't be a problem as all the nut does is hold the fan from falling off, and it doesn't even need to be specially tight...as a mater of fact, if you tighten the nut too tight, all it does is deform the inside of the fan hole making hard to get off later.

The important thing is to lock the crankshaft when you install the clutch, locktite it, and tighten it TIGHT. The nut that holds the fan on should be locktited also, but again, does not need to be very tight.

Thank you Steve!! I bought the purdy purple crankshaft locking tool when I ordered the Toki, so I've got that covered.

Onward!

Chris

Just be sure to use locktite on the threads of the clutch and be sure it is tightened down properly onto the washed that fits between it and the inner race of the engine bearings.

And also be sure the can is keyed into the top of the clutch and use locktite on the prop nut that only is securing the fan.

Yessir, it'll get red loctite, and it definitely snugs all the way down against the washer. Thanks for the reassurance that wasn't just screwing something up.
