HIROBO X-spec - Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > GV-1 hunting in normal and idle up

Hey all,

Out testing a bit ago and found a new problem that has me stumped. Evo 50, Hyper(1 gallon run thru), GV-1, Eclipse 7 radio. Brown showed up today with a box of goodies, most notably align pipe, and 9254 for the 401 to replace the 9253. Set everything up and tried it out in the driveway. With the gov onspeed before liftoff I could see the carb arm running back and forth and hear the engine never really stabilize. When I switched to ID1, nothing really happened. I have normal set for 1800 hs, and ID1 for 1950. I know the engine is tuned ok cause when I switch the gov off at the radio and go to curves, it runs solid and makes lots of smoke and power. As soon as I hit normal, the engine speed goes all over the place. I thought maybe that the throttle servo was acting up so I put the 9253 in there and same thing, only it jumped around faster. Last weekend I was flying and everything worked beautifully. the only differences between today and then was the pipe, and the addition of infinivation dampers. The gv-1 sensitivity shows a steady 97% at the magnet and 2-3% away from the magnet with a sharp rise and fall. Any ideas?

I had a the same with my GV-1 in a Evo 90. The engine was "hunting" from top to bottom within a second. I had a hard time troubleshooting this problem, but after replace the GV-1 the problem was resolved.

I even got a new one from my LHS.

Regards

Well short of replacing it, I might just try putting the old muffler back on and see if that changes anything. If the problem goes away, I'm gonna be a bit upset at the $80 I just spent on the pipe that can't be used

Have you tried flying it on the new pipe with the GV-1 off ?
Chance are, you will need to adjust the mixture to suit the new pipe.

Ya, I can switch the gov off in flight, and did, everything was great. Nice smoke, nice power and steady head speed. As soon as I switch back into normal or ID1 it starts wandering, and I can see the throttle arm going back and forth

Just went out and flew a few tanks to try and solve the problem. In hovering flight the throttle is all over the place, but I decided that I am just gonna throw it around and see what it does. Both normal and ID1 (gov on in both) flew fine. Pretty much decided then that I am gonna ignore what the gov is doing. while flying around the head speed is pretty well solid, it's just in hover that it starts ocillating. Gov off (ID2) everything is good. Just wierd......
