Leif,

Can you remove the spacers for the landing struts, and shorten the vertical fin about 1cm from the bottom

yup....lets see that leif. also your redition of the canopy is light years ahead of the old austin A30 canopy they are looking to put on it. Perhaps a few more minor changes...........................

that canopy looks like a la Sylphide without the muffler containment. The lines should be horizontal as in your example and not slanting down making the canopy look as if it's about to fall off.
I agree with synodontis and would like to see a rendition of this too. Basically copy most of the aurora style. They dont need it.

I like the octagonal boom. I didn't find my freya one heavy.

Taipan....huh?

Hirobo's canopies have never screamed '3D' to me. I.e. the Freya canopy is rather bloated. Sleek & compact is what you want, like the Aurora, Synergy etc.
My freya canopy from the x-spec is quite sleek and rather mean looking....the canopy makes it look fast and it is. It's a darn sight thinner than a lot of other canopy makes. Certainly not like that aurora myth or synergy but not all bad.

Also is there any way to sneak that tank forward or change it's shape a bit so it doesn't look like it's ready to fall out it's bum?

I love this, being in on the ground floor with a new chopper, trust me as a former employee of MRC/Hirobo they are listening to all of your input
Good....free advice from the people that will buy it.....this is the way to shape a great product

So far the main comments

1. Change that canopy....completely destroy the mould if you have one of the proposed. blow it up or something
2. Lower the height of the gear. Lose the spacers or rubber mounts or whatever they are. (this isn't a beginners heli that needs the tail blades way off the ground)
3. Streamline that tail fin
4. Please turn the gear forward like Leif's photoshop mod.
5. Ensure there is torque tube mod available.
6. Supply a break off tab framework like the aurora myth
7. Can the tank look less obtrusive out the back? (this isn't a deal breaker)

Missed any?

make that a carbon torque tube. The stainless ones bend way to easily!!!

How's this? I also moved the rear landing gear strut back just a bit, since it looks like the original landing gear doesn't agree with the CG unless the struts are on backwards.

You can see how the canopy fits the mechanics using a transparency view.

I like it but I think the nose needs to come out just a little more and the canopy has a little to much ark from the top of the canopy to the tip of the canopy.

Come on Leif, show me what that looks like. You look like you have photo shop down! Nice work!!!

Much better,

Now the top of the canopy could be cut down a bit (maybe 1cm), then the top of the windshield line could also come down a bit.

Is it code name LeNorra? Is it being preview years before the release? Here we go again... reminds me of the Aurora?

hey thats great on the skids Leif.

Nice work.
I agree with the last two comments. Can you rework that canopy a bit more. I was thinking this almost exactly.....

Just nees a little more sharpness to it. At the moment it still has a slight gasser canopy look to it if you know what I mean. But it is getting there nicely.

MRC hirobo.....would you like to comment as to wether all this is helpful or does it bend designers noses out of shape? You cannot get better input from the market than this right here.

Anyone else thinking the same things maybe you should put your two cents worth in as it may help Hirobo to consider changes.

You know that they could design two canopies to fit the same mounts. A "I want to go cry to mummy canopy" for those not wanting the agressive look and a kick a$$ sharp nosed killer canopy for 3D.

Here it is. I rotated the canopy a bit more to raise the nose, brought the top of the windshield down and re-aligned the bump-out to align with the actual location of the main gear.

I've been trying to keep within the original dimensions as much as possible, so I haven't stretched it any more. I'll try that next, but I need to stretch the canvas to fit.

also could you straighten the droop line a bit to the nose. Notice the Aurora myth doesn't droop and it looks cool. Then thin up the windsheild outline a bit. Especially from the top.

Maybe also bring the belly of the canopy down a little more towards the landing gear or in line with the landing skids. But for sure the nose needs to be stretched a little more.

Leif, don't worry about the original dimensions. Any changes at all will require a new mold so let's make it look awesome!

yeah dude it's still a bit Randy on American Idol......"I like it but for me it's still missing something...ya know"

It needs the sharpness. It's too high. It's too flat across the top. The windshield doesn't look quite right.....still has the bergen gasser look tinges to me. still needs to lose the guppy look. I think Ghostrider is right....lengthening the nose will change it's proportions for the better.

Hey Leif dont get me wrong....I think your work is great....keep it up....it's changing for the better by far. You have that photoshop down....no doubt.

Keep in mind that the FRAME defines the vertical dimensions. I would love to cut through the upper corner of the main servo location to get less radius on the canopy curve and also bring the upper part of the canopy down. However, that means modifying the proposed frame and I'm not going to go to those extremes. With the control servos lined up with the control arms, I would also need to lower the whole pushrod control system. Take a look at the previous semi-transparent version to see what I'm saying.

Here's a stretched version.

yup....understood. Can you lose the nose droop....deepen the lower belly slightly....extend the top edge above the canopy line further back on the curve and then drop it down towards the back of the canopy....um....kinda like the aurora?? LOL

I think now if you just arc the belly down a little deaper and bring it back into the landing skids, you will be very close.

Hey Leif, you should be on the payroll! Thanks for doing all this for us. It's alot of fun and at the same time, I think Hirobo will sell at least 50% more kits' if they listen to us.
