ok, so ive got 2 helis, ive got my raptor 50 witch runs perfectly, i went out and flew it today, first tap of the starter after 6 months of no fly and it fired right up! purrs like a kitten well at idle and sounds great...

then got my evo, after 2 great flights with the raptor i was all pumped for the season ahead(great day, not too busy at the feild, got about 7 tanks on the raptor) i went to start the evo, which mind you the engine has only had one tank through it, so its set at 3 turns, then sat for awhile, so i double check its still 3 turns and start turning it over, well after a min or 2 of turning and playing with the throttle i go through the normal trouble shooting, i removed the plugged and check it, then blew any access gas out of the engine, then i put it back and turned it over well i held the muffer, then tried again, but still no go....... then i decided i better not waste anymore of this great day and continued flying my rappy!

when i got home i went into our backyard just to see if i could get it too kick, i tried afew more times priming and stuff but it just wanst going, then i took the engine out and did a full inspection, cleaned out the muffler, etc, and put it all back, on the first attempted again it started to sputter for abit then when i went to touch the throttle it died, and now im back to square one.

i cannot understand what is going on, its an os 50 hyper, with mp2, 3 turns out for breakin. coolpower 30.

anyone have any tricks?

3 turns out

Ummmm..... WHAT?

I know that every engine is different, but I was NEVER able to get a Hyper to run at anything more than than 2 1/4

The older I get, the shorter my attention....... Oh look. A shiny penny..

Sound like you are way to rich, and it is just drowning in fuel at 3 turns. If you can, post a picture of the plug, normally that can tell the problem with the engine tuning wise just from its looks.

You know you have to many heli's only when your wallet is empty.

I would put a new glow plug and turn to 2 turns. You can always
turn to 3 when it fires up to break it in.

Yup WAY TOO rich. 2 turns is still on the safe side for a Hyper but you'll still be able to tell once it's running if it's lean. I bet it won't be. You are killing the engine with too much fuel. Lean it up and fly. Remember, it has to get hot enough for the ring to seat to break in properly. Remember, too rich a break in is just as bad as too lean...

lemme jump on the pile. You have virtually no chance of starting that engine at 3 turns. 2 turns is a better place to start.

My hyper 50 will not even run more than 2 turns out. I fluctuate between 1 to 1 and 1/2 turns out depending on weather. 1 and 1/2 is really rich on mine. Low speed needle just a little leaner than stock/break in.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I broke mine in at 3 turns out just like the manual says. Started once the first drop of fuel hit the plug.

Get a life? How the hell do you fly a life?

I run at 2 1/2 to 3 turns with 20% wildcat.

If the os 50 doesn't start first time and you keep turning the engine over, stop and close the main needle completely. When it fires open the needle to the last setting.

Works for me on the odd occasion.

anyone have any tricks?
One of the tricks a friend of mine taught me is to understand what is referred to as the ‘triangle.’ Meaning, it takes Oxygen, fuel, and fire to create combustion. Having said that, the key is COMPRESSION. A change in compression when you apply your starter indicates that you have all the ingredients to start your engine. When the compression subsides, that means you no longer have combustion because something is missing in the ‘triangle.’ Cranking the motor continually will only make matters worse. This might sound like foreign language to the beginner and or retarded for the more experience, but it is often overlooked. I see pilots all the time getting frustrated at the field by turning that engine constantly thinking it will just fire up by itself. In most cases, unless you have a bad engine in general terms, the engine will fire if you provide the ingredients. In your case, its definitely too rich judging by what you said and needs to be leaned out as the guys suggested. You have combustion because you stated that it sputtered so you’re basically there. However, that triangle is broken because of too much fuel.

Hope that made sense.

Like Dilbeck, my hyper is way rich at 1.5 turns out. At 2 turns out it is slobbery rich with no power and at 3 it will not run. I am usually just above 1 turn out.

All engines are a little different but i think you are running way rich.
