| Mike,
I will try to find my old instructions (they will be from the Falcon 808, from which the Competitor was derived).
When these things came out, there were no computer radios-therefore, unless someone is running one with a modern radio and will share their pitch curves, you will have to figure it out a bit.
The stock blades were semi-symmetrical. The instructions showed diagrams of the servo wheels offset, for intentional differential throw, and of the pitch, if I can remember correctly.
The throttle comes in slow, then advances strongly near full.
The pitch comes in fast, then tapers off near full.
The object was to get the blades past the negative and into the positive pitch range before the motor was turning the head too fas.
Those who did this right, back in the olden days, were rewarded with pretty constant rotor speed.
Those that did not were treated to some spectacular overspeeding (as I mentioned in the other thread). |
