I made my order as well at the same store, i didn't opt for the spacer just the o-rings.

I just need the bearing puller but i'll be checking with a few on-road car guys to see if they have one.

I think I might try tapping it out using some sockets - get one large enough to support the assembly and one just the right size to tap it out. I don't know if this will work until I have it apart.

Bill - I think this is what you were suggesting, true? Sound about right, using sockets that are the right size? Also as another option could I drill the right size hole in some scrap wood as the support for the hub assembly while tapping out the bearings?

Simple ID puller

Use a nut that will pass through the ID of the bearing and drill out the threads. Pass the nut through the bearing and turn it so you can put a screw through the cleared out hole. Use a regular nut, washer, and socket large enough for the OD of the bearing on the other side and draw it up. Only catch is you need enough room to turn the cleared out nut. If two bearings are too close to each other you can't do it.

I got my RHPS Predator care kit today, with a few extra goodies.
I hope to have time this weekend to tear my Predator apart and install the bearing support O-rings. Also going to pull the engine and flip the torrington bearing on the clutch - preparing for "The Jewel"! I think I'll grease all the chassis bearings also

got some work ahead of me

This manual sucks @ss, but I too noticed my main gear moves up and down, so Ill have to take the heli apart, bummer, I leave for a trip tomorrow, Ill have to search for the best process to remove the engine as well.

i think i did something wrong my clutch isn't griping when i spin the main gear by hand, so i'll be removing the main gear and sorting this out.

Is it possible to place the cage in incorrectly?

Yes, you put the clutch in upside down, just take it out, and flip it over..

Thanks bill i figured that was the case but i was too tired to fix it last night.

If it is in backwards it should drive the tail backwards.

Pay attention to the teeth when first taking it out... You can hold the main gear, and the crown gear should turn to the right to see if it is in correctly...

I did it but the entire head is a bit tight, the cage is still able to rattle and move around a bit, but the head is just tight.

is this normal?

Normal for the cage to rattle, but not the clutch itself

I just finished installing the O-ring spacers and putting the glue in the inner sleeve. I will post pictures later tonight but I have to say it was quite a bit easier than I had anticipated. This took less than 2 hours with me fiddling around, making notes, taking pictures etc.. Can't wait to try the results, once family obligations, work and the weather give enough for me to spend more time on this.

You may get your heli up before me, as i'm rebuilding from a minor hard landing.

I got everything together just to now double check screws for locktite and to check links and pitch curves.

I don't know about that - just after my last post I found a leak in my basement - turns out the driveway had heaved a bit this last winter causing the rain to run back to the divide between the drive and the garage.  It then siphoned into the basement along an inner wall.  I had a few gallons of water in the basement before I caught it.  Good thing I was working on my heli .  Should be good now, the water stream seems to have subsided since I diverted the downspout further from the house. Also, I tore my Predator apart so I could flip the bearing over on my clutch.  I'm installing a Raja "Jewel" generator system. Got the clutch out and the bearing flipped.  Now I have to put it all back together.

Whoa sorry to hear about your basement issues but as to who gets the heli of the ground first is still up for grabs, as i was busy at home doing some well needed works around the house and then the mothers day activities kicked in.

Usually work takes up all my time in the week so i'm down until the coming weekend.

I checked everything out and she's ready to go, i'm going to get some warm up flying practice on the sim until saturday.

Well the basement seems to be all sorted out. Redirecting the water and setting up some fans dried it all out.

So, back to the Predator -NOT SO FAST!!! The car's alternator gave up the ghost. Spent Mother day morning with the family and the afternoon getting to know my 1996 Saturn SW2 even better. I bought it just a month ago as my "heli hauler" but for some odd reason our entire family likes it better than the 2003 Corolla. Anyhow alternator was a royal pain to swap as it's under the power steering pump between the engine and the firewall but it's done now.

I did manage a little time to mount and dial in the clutch. Someone here asked for some pictures on how to dial in the fan and clutch so I snapped a few photo's. I'll start a new thread with them. I'm sure that if anyone has a better technique it'll show up in the discussion.
