I might be wrong about this, but I beleive that Jet A fuel is more "pungent" then K-1 kerosene, just a point to bear in mind that you may care about depending on your transport and storage arrangements for the JetCopter.

obtaining Jet "A" from your local airport

Suggest you go to a FBO on your local field that services turbine aircraft and ask for the A&P mechanic if you cannot get fuel from the pumps. They are reluctant to sell fuel in a portable container due to insurance and regulations.

Usually you can get it from them if you tell them what you are using it for.

An ordinary off the shelf fuel container works fine. Five gallons makes it worthwhile.

and yes, kersosene has less of an odor but more $$

Yes i found out about that. They told me they would want it to be in a labeled container to make the FAA happy your right. If it’s not the right container they won’t fill it.

Welcome

To the brotherhood of Jetcopter SX, and the world of "less vibrations".

You couldn't have chose a better heli than the Jetcopter-

Its straight forward, nearly vibration-less, and smooth on take off and landings.
I've had mine since Feb this year, (bright drone orange), and i have to say, coming from a line of helis that i have flown, you can not get any better results than with a turbine powered heli.
Believe me, if you wanted to get into aerial photography, you already are half way there, the capacity these machines can lift is unbelieveable, even with the 810's, and Richard/Josef explained to me that the heli can accept up to 850's before you have to make any modifications to the tail boom length and belt ( or torque tubes, if you got that option).

Another piece of advice, Get the Kero Start kit, it'll eliminate the gas start, plus, you'll have a little bit of extra room on tray for bigger batteries or bigger UAT tank.
I hope you have many great flight with this bird, as we all have.

a heli is like a marriage, most of the time it works, the rest it don't.

What engine does the Jetcopter come with?

it comes with

Jetcat HP5 with PHT3 ECU, i believe revision 5F or greater is being released, not sure.

But it comes with tons of power in reserve..
The mechanics are unbelieveably simple, and effective as far as the design goes, there is not one ounce of plastic for side frames, anywhere on this. (ball links do not count)

I was trying to find comparative power outputs, for instance, jetcat de says 8KW for the SPH5, which equals 10.7 HP, at 175,000 RPM!

I can't seem to locate power output for HP5 however. The PHT3 is 5KW or only 6.7 HP.

At 22 Lbs, it's quite a heavy bird already. Should be durable with that kind of construction, although maybe not very aerobatic.

Anyone know the capacity of the fuel tanks? The website states 14 minutes flight time...

I believe they are 2 liters in total (2 x 1 ltr) plus the BVM header tanks.

14 mins is probably about right, I set my time for 10 mins after which I have just over 550ml left.

Wow, That's quite a lot of fuel for 14 minutes isnt it? Is it the fact that it's an older design single stage that causes such a high fuel consumption?

I noticed while looking that new tanks are $136!! Others are using aluminum fuel bottles or aluminum water bottles that are a LOT cheaper! Just an observation....

I like all the different color options, from neon colors to Chrome, very nice!

the single stage engine setups are less efficient then the "gas generator" or 2-stage systems, more of the exhaust gas is converted to energy.

My Wren/Predator burns around 40 oz for about 15 minutes of hover and light activity.

The higher fuel consumption of the JetCopter is about right

That's quite a bit better!

How much does your predator/wren weigh?

If you are looking for a HP5 Turbine helicopter the Power Cat is the only way to go. It uses quality proven Vario parts that have been used on the HP5 since day one. East Coast Scale Helicopters has all of the Vario replacement parts needed and are great to deal with. If you want to convert the HP5 from pod and boom, Vario also produces Top Quality detailed fuselages that are made for the HP5 and other Jet Cat turbine units.

Vario is a good choice.

I have a benzine running an mw54 with 810mm blades.

Two stage turbines do have their advantages.

Jetcat case

Hi everyone I built a case for the Jetcat. I wanted to share whqat i did. I was told to use a co2 extinguisher only no powered will destroy all electronics if used. I have the jetcat mounted inside the box so it can not move any were during transportation.
