Jetcat

Hi everyone i wanted to share my new helicopter, i have been saving, and saving, for this it's a really exciting day. I just went out and bought a Jetcat SX helicopter, and this has been one of the best things i have ever done i love this machine. I wanted to share this with everyone. I am new with this Jetcat so if anybody can give me any tips on the maintenance it would be apreciated . Such as the type of kerosene, to be used . What are all you jet engine, owners using. I have herd some people mixing oil inside of the kerosene is this true or just a rumor well im looking forward to some feed back what helps keep the engine in tip top shape i attached some pictures also.
Thanks !

nice machine, and you wont be disapointed with the JETCAT

there is no real maintenance, as it is all done every 50hrs on a service for which you have send the mechanics back to JETCAT, where they normally replace the bearing and check the tension of the belts and replace and tighten if neccessary and update the ECU to the latest firmware.

the only maintenance i do is just check the filters as you would normally do on a nitro machine. apart from that there nothing else to really do apart fromt he susal pre flight checks you would normally do on a normal machine.

As to Kero, yes you do need to mix oil in at 5%, which is a 1 quart can of turbine oil ( i use MObil Jetoil) some use Aero shell 500, others use BP oil, they are the 3 i know of, you mix 1 full quart can of oil for every 19 litres of JETA1 fuel.

SOme use Parasene which is like green house heater fuel it has a less odour to it.

I am unsure if you can get parasene in the USA.

Welcome to the turbines

Hi Jim,

Well done on your new baby.

Like you, I picked my JetCopter SX up two weeks ago (a bright orange version) and have now had for flights with it, great fun!

Spending lots of time trying to learn as much as I can about flying the turbine.

Enjoy

James,

you should be able to buy Jet A at El Cajon or at the Biz Jet facility at Lindberg field, or if closer then up at Carlsbad, otherwise you can buy home heater Kerosene from Hope Depot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware but it is about twice the cost of the real stuff

You should be able to buy Turbine oil in quart cans from the same guys the sell Jet A, otherwise a high grade of "2-stroke" racing motor oil will work, the ratio of oil is approx 5% , and that equates to 1qt oil to 19 gallons of fuel, just the right amount for a 5 gallon gas can ..

James,

I paid %5.50 a gallon for Jet A at the local Biz Jet fuel store and $11 for a qt of Mobil Turbine oil approx 1 month ago.

James,

Call them first and ask about "an appropiate container" , mine wanted me to have a blue one that said "JET A" on a label on the side, they kept mumbling something above "FAA Approved"
