Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Hawk Pro Glitching

Hey,
I have a hawk pro with OS37, All cyclic and collective servos are fut s3151, t/r is a 9254 with 401 gyro. I have a fut 9channel chp super radio. I first noticed this glitch a few nights ago. At that time i had an old hitec receiver. I noticed the sheathing on the Rx antenna was nicked. SO i put a new futaba 9ch Rx. The problem seemed to have dissappeared. But then tonight when coming in for an approach it glitched. The glitch seems to be isolated to the T/R or the collective. Any ideas of what could cause this.

Thanks

Process of elimination

What’s a super radio? If you’re running anything less than a PCM, I don’t recommend it in this hobby because they are more prone to RF hits. In any event, glitches can happen for a number of reasons. The placement of your electronics plays a big role on controlling it to a minimal. Some causes are self-induced like carbon fiber parts rubbing together and or metal to metal parts. Worn out wires and bad connections could also be the cause. For starters, the only thing I can suggest is for you to analyze your entire heli for any of these possible causes.

Hope this helped

On a Hawk with glitching problems, the first place I would look is for loose boom supports.

I had a simular glitch once and it turned out to be a loose battery connection. Sounds like based on your description that it has nothing to do with the Hawk its self but in the electronics.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

Just go 2.4, you will be glad you did, and it makes it easier to diagnose problems because you can rule out radio interference for the most part.

Ok thanks, i will examine my connections. I was also flying at airport so might be prone to RF out there?

Check out what SteveH said.

Check the screws that attach the boom supports to the horizontal stab. The one that attaches where the control rod does through the guide may be too long and sticking into the guide and making contact with the control rod.

This vibrating metal to metal contact will always cause RF that causes glitching.

I found the culpurate. The screw which goes from the horizontal stab mount on the tailboom into the horizontal stab was touching the t/r push pull tube and therefore causing a glitch. Removed the screw filed it down. Put 2 tanks of fuel through her tonight no defects.

Thanks all for the help!
