hi all

quick question.. How much is to tail heavy?

my knight 3d with just over half a tank balances with front skids about 8mm (1/3 inch) higher than back of skids..

i need about 40 grams on front tray to make it perfect level..

will this be ok, or do i need to add that 40 grams?

thanks in advance

If it were mine I would add about 40 grams on front tray to make it perfect level..

Generaly, you want the nose to be just a bit heavy. It's better to have a nose down forward motion tendency rather than backward.

Good luck,
Jim

Don't ADD weight, MOVE the weight. If you do add weight, make the weight worth something, instead of dead weight.

My Knight 3D balances perfectly.

I run a 4200mAh 2s Lipo, Fromeco Arizona regulator, Gy611, front mounted tail servo.

I have a lot of weight up front, but at least it isnt dead weight.

Moving the tail servo up front would be your best move for now. That will make more difference than anything if you haven't done so already.

Move weight

thanks for reply

i've got everything up front, except tail servo. the conversion kit not available in ZA as yet, thus the costs just to great to import it (shipping is double the cost of conversion kit).

my align regulator, battery (1900 lipo for now, waiting on payday), receiver, gyro, gyro amp all sitting either front tray, or as forward as can be...

think i will get bigger receiver battery soon... but want to get bird in the air.. been stairing me in the eyes for last 2 weeks, just waiting on tail servo expected tommorrow ;-)

i've added about 40 grams right up front( bolted onto canopy inside) and now balance 100%.

will test fly like this and check out trims and sort out motor etc etc etc etc.

don't forget to remove the horizontal fin before you add any weight.
