Rockohaulic,

Did you find out what was wrong? My first flight with 700 and brand new Spartan 760/8900. Tail drifting just like your.
Thanks,

Its vibrations most likely. Dial indicate everything and make sure everything is nice and balanced. Any gyro will drift if there are enough vibes.

I worked on this problem with another club member this weekend - 700N w/ Spartan + BLS251. The tail performed as it should, held well and the pirouette rate consistent etc, but the tail would drift slowly in a hover.

The problem turned out to be vibration from the engine which was running rich for breakin (OS91 SZ + cline). After leaning the motor to where it should be the drift was gone.

FWIW: I've seen the same on one of my older helis with front mounted gyro - it too will drift slightly if the motor is running rich - the same model with a rear mounted gyro does not have that problem.

Thanks bob00. After my engine broke in and did lean out little more. Now no more drifting.
