Don't you just hate these ads that copy, paste and modify from other people's websites.... so full of complete utter cr@p.

What's more, Spektrum engineers have incorporated technology that permits owners of conventional 9X V23 radios to transfer all of their model programming data from their transmitters directly to their new DSX9 2.4 transmitters!

Spektrum Engineers did all this ?? Wow... thank you Spektrum Engineers, I bet that really pleases the JR guys back in Japan!! (Actually got bugger all to do with Spektrum)

Erm, we are talking about the DSX9 system which is not a Horizon product and therefore why are they quoting a Horizon part number ??

Shame they couldn't get it right.

Looking at the whole advert in general, all I can think of is Frak Me !! I am so glad that Horizon and Spektrum exist to give us mere mortals all these fantastic systems. Talk about Marketing Bullsh!t.

I have just bought mine from 'somewhere in the uk' for £550,my friend has just imported his from china (the link is something I found) he paid £350 all in for some thing that is exactly the same!!!!

OS engines have lowered there prices to match everywhere else in the world,it's about time every one else done the same!

If anyone is worried about buying from abroad,Tax ect.The most you will pay for is about £25tax and£12 handling.

550 pounds. Thats $1375 NZD. A 9303 is 729 USD or $911 NZD with 4 servo's. Here with 4 servos retailers sell for $1275 NZD so it's about $100 more expensive in the UK than in NZ (assuming you get the complete set with 4 servo's) and $464 NZD more expensive than the USA. (and $605 NZD dearer than buying a full set in hong kong or 44% dearer)

Thats quite a mark up. I suppose places like hong kong are close to where they are made and less middlemen are creaming off the top. Also it can be a hassle to have to warranty from abroad. But $605 (242 pounds) seems pretty excessive.

If imported from hong kong @ say 315 pounds per unit (retail price there and not dealer price) plus say 15 pounds shipping and 17% VAT would equal 386 pounds. That is a 42.48% markup which I guess is shared between the distributor and the retailer. Dealer price should be cheaper. One would imagine the dealer price is less than 300 pounds but thats only pure speculation.

Trouble is shipping and especially your VAT marks the price up significantly. The distributors and dealers still have to make a profit but it still seems like a bit of gouging is still going on.

Good luck you guys.

by the way....warranty is still important. You have to factor in a price to that. You can soon lose 50 pounds having to warranty claim from abroad......crap if your set is perfect and wonderful if it's a dud!

Thats £550 with NO servos-yes 0 servos!

My friend had a faulty Futaba 401 gyro from hong kong he sent it back (£5 p&p) and had a new 1 with-in 10 days. Our local model shop expects you to send stuff back ourselves most of the time so whats the difference?

How come OS engines are the same price as the rest of the world?

One can only assume that the Hong Kong dealers are purchasing at 30% less than there retail of £320.So I would hazard a geuss that the wholesale cost of these transmitters are about £200? I suspect that they are not far off that in the UK aswell. If not less.

I am looking to buy one of these, and on ebay they are a lot cheaper, from reputable Japanese suppliers.

Other than the warranty etc (which, actually is sometimes better from Japan !), are there any technical differences between those sets and the UK ones ?

If someone could clear that up for me it would be appreciated. I always support my local hobby stores, but the price in the UK for these units is way too high, probably because of the main supply chain !

I think you are pretty much screwed! the uk versions have got a magregor badge on them and according to magregor anything else is not legal!and not insured by the bmfa.

Wot a con!!! I really do feel sorry for the local model shops!its not there fault.

The only thing I can suggest is to get a dsx7 and wait and see if the 9 channel comes down in price.

I would be interested to see what the technical differences are?(if any)

If it is like the DX6i, then power levels can be set from the radio, and there is nothing they can do about the legality if you are running the correct UK power level. If the power is set by other means, then you are legally out of luck buying from elsewhere. Go buy a FASST system and really drive home your point. The lack of sales will cause them to rethink their position.

The authority is OFW311

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/...chnical/ofw311/

This calls up IR2030

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/..._req/uk2030.pdf

Table 3.5 is the one that calls up EN 300-328, it also sets the max power level for the 2 classes (DSSS & FHSS)

You can only guarantee full UK compliance and legality if you buy it from a UK source.

Anyone who has bought a set from overseas, may as well not bother joining the BMFA, because you will not be covered by their insurance.

I agree that from the outside it looks like we are being ripped off, but I don't blame the importers or shops for this. They are trying to make a living like the rest of us.

If you want to bang your gums and protest about it, have a go at the government

It aint rocket science. If your not happy about the price, DON'T BUY ONE
