Do the Raptor 50 has CLUTCHES Problems????

I am interested in buying a 50 size heli and I have to decide between Raptor 50 or Sceadu 50.

The only bad things I have read about the Raptor is CLUTCHES Problems????

THX,

Isaac

Yes, the raptor is does have clutch problems just like the raptor 30. prolly even more so, because of the additional load on the clutch from a 46/50 engine. A raptor 50 contains 96% raptor 30 parts so it will break clutches even more. Of course if you are not stick banging the throttle, the clutches do last. But if you do like to thrash helis around be prepared to spend money on new clutches. Go with the Scedu 50 if you can find parts for it.

Raptor 50

Amen stuart, the raptor is the way to go, especially for the money!

I had clutch problems with my 46 for a while, but when i installed a coke can liner with the stock liner, the gap was perfect and the clutch was fine!

Erik

besides, even if you are buying clutches it's still cheaper than other machines!

My raptor 30 is a 18 months old and I have never had a clutch problem (Knock had on wood) I did use the One layer of electrical tape method and JB weld to put my Liner in.

I truly believe that 90% of the raptor clutch problems is due to poor assembly of the clutch.

I only had one clutch problem so far. I was working on power recovery autos and when I recovered the power it didn't grab the clutch bell. So I guess my first real auto was with the engine running full . Kinda wierd to be finishing an auto that you thought you were going to fly out of. As soon as it touched the ground, the clutch grabbed and I took off again. I had flown that thing to death and replaced several parts due to wear. I replaced the clutch bell and liner. But I used the JR liner as per Heliproz advice instead of the stock liner this time. I have yet to see any wear on the JR liner. The stock liner sprayed my heli with black powder as it wore down. I replaced the clutch with another stock clutch. I am very careful with the distance and use one wrap of electrical tape for my spacing. The clutch should not be allowed to spring out anymore than it needs to or you will put excessive wear on it and fatigue the metal. After almost a year of solid flying, I spent about $60 to keep the heli in flying condition for the rest of the year and the next.

I've had the original clutch on my Raptor 30 for 16 months, no problems. I agree with MobileRaptor, its poor assembly of the clutch and too much of a gap clearance which causes pre-mature failure of the clutches. Other than that, the clutches work fine.
