I have a prediction.
I have a very strong feeling that mikado helicopters are on the rise big time !!

I am not talking about pricing, I speak of numbers, popularity.

I belive people want less hassle nowadays etc ...

There is no "perfect helicopter" because different people want different things out of the hobby, and therefore are drawn to different machines. Initial price and set-up/crash costs, performance, parts availability, local/regional preferences, maintainability, what's hot and popular at the time (doesn't equate to the best machine however), and how they look just sitting on the bench, all go into what a person will buy/fly (and therefore what they'll claim is the "perfect Heli".

The above statement makes my opinion just about worthless. But here it is: If someone gave me $3000 dollars and said I could spend it on any helicopter kit available today, (along with the electronics and power system to get it flying), I'd buy a Mikado 600-3D V-Bar.

Although I think the Logos are very nice helis, I dont think they will ever dominate the electric seen mostly due to their price and parts support.

Get a life? How the hell do you fly a life?

bahamadude:

I predict your prediction is wrong. Mikado are a nice niche product and are destined to stay that way for many reasons. The Align Juggernaut is crushing all in its path. That is not a prediction, it is a fact.

I moved from a Align product to the Logos and no way I'll be looking back. The new Logo series are really a pleasure to build and work on, and theres just not much working on them cause they have such a clean simple design.

May be but the cost and part availability puts a lot of people off. You will ALWAYS see more Align products at a field then Logos IMHO. Fly what you like of course - I do.

Yup, fly what you like is the key, for me I can sacrifice a little extra cost (maybe $30 more a crash on average) for the extra quality, uniqueness and have things hold up better as the airframe accumulates air time. The Align products certainly did not seem to hold up as well as I wanted comparatively to the other models I've had throughout the years.

All my logo's are zero maintenance, can't say that about my old T-Rex - although things may have moved on a bit since then (somehow, I don't think so).

parts network and cost are also a function of sale volume. the more they sell, the more you will see these factors improve. for now, if you want the best E helis, Mikado is the ticket.

Among electric flyers maybe but as long as there are more nitro flyers, not a chance. If batteries lasted 20 mins, charged in 20mins and cost $50 a pack more people would buy electric, but they don’t. If you want to go to the field and fly all day you need a lot of kit. Last week I went to my field and had 9 flights in 2 hours, if I was flying electric that would have cost me £1800 with UK battery prices ($3600).
