Ive seen and used something similar, although not as powerful. What is the problem with taking my dewalt drill and doing the same thing though? Im open for the higher learning and better usage/less damage to the heli. Ive tossed my electric starter for the drill and will send it to anybody for free as long as you pay the postage.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I myself find the drill to be akward to use and not as smooth as my starter.

Well it could be your not used to holding a drill, I use one every day therefore it feels more natural. As for as smooth i think you may be correct again, the high speed/torque of those starters are maybe the reason for damage to the one way bearings in the first place. 0 to 5000 rpm in a nanosecond could put a lot of stress somewhere. Again im just learning and have only been flying for 2 years but learn something new every day.

Ya a drill isn't as smooth unless you use 2 one way bearings 1 on the fan and 1 on the start shaft this helps with kick back.

So where can I find Replacement bearings and does Century sell them ?

What no replacement? I thought this was what it was all about. If no replacement then what are we to do? Is it a one time only purchase? Speaks highly of, of, well im not sure.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

glad you like it.
I was DYIN' to run that fan, and didn't want to use the "special" start shaft and one-way, so out came the trusty ol' hack saw and Dremel.

LOL well whoever did it it is a decent mod to do so people dont just toss that pos fan out. If they would have a replacement bearing for it at a reasonable price would be nice but I have yet to find one.

Your post sounds like Century does not have parts at all???

I have never had problems of any consequence getting parts for any of mine.

As for the CNC fan. Seems like they handle the fan as a complete part, just as TT and others, who put a one-way bearing into the center of their clutch. They also do not offer bearings for the clutch center as a seperate part.

If one breaks the bearing, one has to buy the complete clutch....which, due to the bearing, costs substantially more then the clutch in the Hawk or Raven.

OH they have parts alright just not always available.

Why should I have to buy a whole new unit @$44.95 when all I need is a $10 bearing.

Same goes the starter wand I have a dead bearing in that too.
Why should it require replacement of the whole unit @$29.95.
It is going to cost me upwards of 85$ + shipping to replace the units.

If this is Century method of doing business then I may have to start researching the other brands.

I thing I don't understand....

Many people on hear crying that Century does not offer some bearing....

Century does not make the bearing... they purchase it from a bearing supplier...

Whathappens when you loose a screw ?? Do you call Century and order 1 screw ?? or do you hunt around.. local hardware store, Home Depot, etc until you find one.

Now take out the bearing that you need.... Measure outside dimension, Inside dimension, and height.... and contact bearing suppliers until you find what you need.... the Internet is a great thing... also could be done by phone.

It's OK....It's not your fault !!!

I should still have the one way that came out of my modified fan if anyone wants it...

I have been helped out many times before from RR members and like to return the favors!

EDIT: I also have the special century starting wand for the turbo fan.
It is brand new but out of the package.
