e-Miniature Aircraft Razor - Ion-X - Bandit > question about an ion

Im planning on trading my razor for a ion-x v1 with the neu 1521 with the cc 110hv esc. It comes with 2 5s 8000mah prolite packs and 700mm blades. Is this setup going to be fine for lite 3d like rolls, flips, tic tocs stuff like that, I dont need it to have crazy powerful as I will baby it for the most part but I want to make sure its good for some 3d. Also what gearing should I have.

The Ion X will be fine for the style of flying you want to do. The gearing is pretty much fixed, unlike your Razor where you plenty of choices. Hope you don't have to buy any 5S4P 8000 packs, there only $400 each. What I would do is trade for the Ion and buy the V2 conversion, then you gearing choices are like the Razor and motor choices are better. The packs cost less, so you can have more and fly more. The Ion will come alive with the X2 conversion.

Hello,

Yeah that's a good setup for what you are looking for. It'll feel heavy but you'll get some nice looong flight times in return. I was using a 50t secondary pulley for 20:1 gear ratio. Now I would look into using the 48t double-stacked secondary gear (19.2:1) for hotter performance. That's what Bobby Smith used to fly and liked the most in his 10S Ion-X1 a while back. Watch battery temps.

If you don't mind losing some flight time, you can try 10S 3850 V2. It should drop over a lb of weight for livelier performance but flight times will suffer. Good luck.

I actually bought a x2 conversion kit for it and a set of 6s 3850 thunder power v2 packs after seeing your video, I will run a lower headspeed and am hoping to get over 5 minutes of flight out of her.
