| pitch_black, here is the best method to it on your own:
Short rod:
Turn on your radio (Tx and Rx), allow the gyro to set, and then put it in rate mode, and make sure that the servo is mechanically centered. then adjust the short rod length until the tail bellcrank is centered (vertical to the side frame).
Long rod: Once youve completed the above step, find the tail blades 0 pitch position and then add a little "right" tail rotor compensation and start with that placement as your center. most gyros will work fine once you complete this.
If you wana have the best mechanical setup possible, turn on your radio, and start the engine and bring the machine into a hover in HH mode, and then flip to rate mode. if the machine turns right or left, land and adjust the long rod accordingly until the tail remains stationary in a hover. Then make final adjustment of servo limits to both sides and enjoy your perfect mechanical setup.
PS - 1. if you could tell us whats the problem and which gyro \ tail rotor youre using it would help investigate the cause. 2. i forgot to mention - make sure trima nd sub trim of rudder channel are at ZERO.
Good luck !
