Blades, Night Flying and Painting > How to secure the cold night string to a canopy?

Hi Guys,

In the past I was using plastic tie-wraps through holes in the canopy in order to secure the string. Is there a better way of doing it?

Thanks

I have never tried this but here is an idea for you:

I once got some wire holders from Radio Shack to tidy up the wiring in one of my planes. They are pretty small and have a sticky back so you could stick something like that on the canopy to attach the glow wires. This would work best on an electric night flyer so the fuel wouldn't degrade the double stick tape.

I had a dedicated night canopy and I just used ca and accelerator. Held up thru crashes and all.

I guess I'll have to go for a dedicated canopy as well...

I was hoping I could add and remove the wiring at my leisure...

Thanks guys.

Hi guys

I am also making a dedicated night canopy. Was planning to tape it on to get the best possition and then drill small holes either side of the glow wire every inch or so and tie it on with nylon fishing line.

If you are drilling holes it is easier if you drill only a single small hole and put a small plastic tie-strap from the inside of the canopy going out, around the glow wire and back in through the same hole to be locked onto the end of the tie strap.

When I did my canopy, I did zip ties and shoe goo, I did not want to see my canopy wire go flying into my blades inverted. I just liked the extra sense of security.

Get the sport canopy

Pick up the plastic sport canopy for 22 bucks and grab a dremel, works great.
