Do you guys who own the 9Z with a Fasst module keep the old antenna in the tx or do you remove it?

Just leave it in there. Have you ever tried to get one out ?

Removing

Removing the 72MHz antenna from a 9Z is easy, just remove one bolt through the battery compartment BUT it is not in the way and keeps dirt out of the hole so I left it in.

Hey Gordie;

You gonna leave the stuff off of the bottom of the antenna rattling around inside ?

No I never tried to take it out even if I already knew how to do it( took the radio apart to clean the pots a few months ago, there is alot of pieces in there!!!)...
I guess Gm1 has a point about the pieces left inside rattling around...

Thanks guys!

Left inside

There's one fiber washer and an M3 washer that remains inside if you pull the antenna. The M3 washer comes out the top and the fiber washer doesn't hurt anything but you can remove about 6 screws and get that out also if you want. Like I said, I have the 8 channel FASST 2.4 module and just left the antenna in the case so I can use 72 or 50 MHz if I want. It plugs up the hole and isn't in the way. Also helps with balance of the Tx.

Gordie,

I did the same thing with our's on the XPS system, I did remove the antenna to test it out and actually put it back in to help with balance.

I thought the XPS system didn't actually work w/ the 9Z or that there were 'issues'.

Have any issues been fixed?

There are issues with the XPS, something to do with the pots in PPM mode, my radio is going to Radio South for them to check it, I started to expieriance the glitches that others had reported.

My 9Z has sentimental value so upgrading or putting it aside isn't an option for me at this time so I have moved a few models over to my 9C for now.

From what I've heard once the 9Z's come back they don't have any further problems.
