OK I dont have used excel for that and it's possible that they show the variance r^2, I thought they were referring to the fitting constant for the 2nd order term.

Question about servos

I have 4 servos s9350 digital with high torque and speed. Are designed specially for cars and boats.
I sent an email to futaba asking that if can i use this servos in a .50 nitro helicopter, and they answered that i shouldn´t because it is not designed for helicopters.
Could somebody tell me in this forum specialized in servos what could happen if i use them in a raven .50 anyway? If the answer is not to use them at all, i would thanks if could you explain why not? These are expensive servos ($99.00 each one) and i don´t wanna spend in another servos.

I don't know about the 9350's but I can tell you that I (and lots of other heli owners) use the Futaba 9351 and 9451's which are "car" servos. Looking at the spec's of this servo I wouldn't hesitate to put it on a heli.

9350 servos

I have had a couple of these and flew probably 500 flights with them on the collective of a 90 size heli. steve.

I would. There’s a lot more to a servo then just speed and torque. Some of the main characteristics that you should look for in a good heli servo is its ability to recenter consistently and precisely along with immunity to large and high frequency vibrations.

I'm not saying I go out and buy them but if I had 'em they'd go into a heli. for the money I think there are better servo choices such as the BLS-451 or 8717's but again of someone gave me 9350's I'd use them. I'm sure they'd be better than the Hitec 635's I've been using for the last number of year on my 50's, maybe even better than the 9252's (?).

What is Futaba saying when they say for cars and not for helis?

I think Futaba gets excited about the vibration factor coming back into the servo after you factor out speed and torque values. Must have to do with the way they mount or isolate the pc board in the case. Doesn't make sense to me though, when you look at the abuse the truggy and car guys are putting on these vehicles and the much higher resonance from their engines. Saw a guy running a new TT.70 engine with a blower and nitrous on a new truck just last week, insane rpms.

Thank you for all the work on this project. Very interesting. Love the comparison of the conventional versus ccpm machines. Would be very nice to see a constant package of servos, battery, regulator passed to several machines(mechanical, mccpm, eccpm) and then a torque bar for each servo running side by side with the total amps at the end. I would also love to see same test with straight analogue servos except for rudder and see how different the power draw is. Also 4.8volt versus 6.0volt.

Thanks again. Great use of a computer and an education, your mother should be proud.
