Blade_Master1 - I'll try to remember to do this. Please PM me in a day or two if I haven't followed this up.

The blades are completely unmarked with graphics and are just 'CF' finish. No paint, no decals, just CF.

Bad Karma,
I guess I should not have said your attitude was bad per se, but you cannot dictate to others how we pursue our hobby. You can have advice, opinions, and point of view about safety and as you say false economy, and I concede this round, but its unfair to give ultimatums like

Quote
they should just leave and take up R/C cars or boats or something before they hurt someone.

I don't want anyone getting hurt either, and you've made a good point concerning endangering others; in that vein, I made the choice to retire the set of these blades I have until or unless I can determine that they are reasonably safe for some form of flying.

I re-inspected my blades, and had a couple of my flying buddies look at them- we decided we could not actually see any damage on this set, but still to be safe...I'm flying Align blades now.

I hope they don't chuck their weights.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Bad Karma, a very reasoned response despite my little dig. Your a better man than me

I do know what you mean and fully understand your point about false economies, however the presentation of your point was a little harsh as the majority that fly on a budget manage to fly safely and would be appaulled to think that they don't deserve the right to take part in a particular hobby that they love because in someone else's eyes they aren't wealthy enough.
We all know that China is capable of producing both good and bad quality product at vastly cheaper prices than the UK/EU/USA (if you take into account the dollar exchange rate) but if you don't try, how will you know?
There's a difference between foolishly ignoring advice from those who have experience of a product that is not suitable and trying something new for the first time.

I'm not rich either, infact most of the people I know and am teaching (who are barely been in the hobby half a year) already have larger fleets of helis than I do.

Personally I would rather have one heli with quality gear in it than ten with junk in them.

I didnt mean to be that harsh about it, but that comes from knowing people in person who cut so many corners with component quality in the name of saving money that we would all be better off if they stuck to planks and cars, and I am talking about a real person here.

Eg they are flying 60-90 non-eCCPM size models with 3001 servos on cyclic, collective!! and throttle, and a 3050 on the tail, thinking thats a good tail servo just because its digital even though they've been told its far too slow, then going out and trying to fly aerobatics with it.

I'm certain that the attitude of "ok will do" with helis comes most of the time from people who have flown planks at only club level, where you can use a 148 or 3001 on most models without worry, and then they get into helis and expect the same, they are used to the lower costs of these string bags, and treat helis the same way.

Anyway, good to hear what you've posted

Rui_JC - FWIW, those are different from mine - different weave pattern and your ends have 'straight' bits, mine are rounded.

Bearing in mind my blades were for the 450, however in saying that mine were as per the picture advertised. The CF weave is "normal" unlike yours and I have rounded blade tips unlike yours.
So no, mine are completely different to yours, but as advertised.

Here's my bad experience with the 325mm CF baldes. Only 1 out of 4 sets were OK. And yes they do not loook like that in the photos on their site. Hobbycity/United Hobbies s*cks.

That does not look like a Carbon Fiber weave on those blades.

Thats what I was thinking, looks like a printed skin.

CF is straight lines, and that "weave" would have no strength.

I have a set of 550 glass blades on their way from Hobby City. I too am guity of seeing what these cheap blades are like. It's a calculated risk. I buy lots of Lipos and electrical bits from them. However, if the blades don't look up to the job when I get them, they can kiss my a$$ for future business.

Thanks for alerting me to this potential hazard.

Here are all four blades - it's a bit difficult to see the evidence of damage on the other three, but it is there. Obviously the red tape is not original.

Got my silver finish 550 glass blades from Hobby City today. See top pair in their web site picture.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...?idProduct=6253

Summary: Not bad for less than $20 (=£10)

Minus Points
A few pin holes here and there in the finish but nothing I can't live with.
Very slight lip on part of one trailing edge where top and bottom surfaces don't match exactly all the way along. It's on the underside so, again, I can live with it.
Not twisted, but not perfectly straight, if I'm honest. So I will have to see how they track.

Plus Points
Perfectly balanced.
Structurally sound: I was especially careful to study the root.
Did not split, crack or even creak under moderate bending and twisting.

Other Comments
Not as stiff in bending and torsion as carbon fibre, but better than woodies.
Bang on the money. I'd be unhappy to pay $25 upwards for this quality.

Will let you know how they fly (on scale ship compared to my MS carbon blades) when I get the chance.

I think the point of the "Dangerous Blades" has been covered! Now RR members are banging heads among each other.....
Lets make note and move ahead, with this post as the reminder that these are "Dangerous Blades" --
So let's get a different set from a different manufacturer and do what we all want to do, Go and Fly

Just to finish my point...
My silver finish glass blades from Hobby City track perfectly without any adjustments after substituting for my MS carbons. Silver finish wears off easily at roots when blades are folded. I would concluded mine are not dangerous, for scale flying at least

ren, I wouldn't worry. Sure, it's a calculated risk buying such low cost blades, but chances are yours will be fine. Even brand names are not immune to the occasional fault which gets through. I shall be ordering 2 pairs of carbon blades for a scale project.
