e-BEAM Beam E4 > Odd pitch pumping runaway

I get an odd behavior when I do some pitch pumping with my Beam.
After 3-4 pitch pumping with the collective, the heli just takes off straight up in the air. This is in ID2, haven't tried it in ID1.
I have to hit throttle hold to get it to come back down.
I'm running the following:
DX7
AR6100 v1.6
Scorpion 55A ESC and -6V2 10 tooth pinion
ID1 80% flat Th curve, ID2 90% flat Th curve
HS65MG, 401/9650
Medusa 6V BEC (2A)
Evolite V2 2500 3S packs

This also happened before I installed the BEC.
Everything on the heli is smooth, no binding in any of the links.

Any ideas on what can cause this?
Thanks.

Are you still controlling the heli when it gets away?

when the heli starts to gain altitude without my input, that's when I hit throttle hold.
It's as if I lose control momentarily.

It sounds like your Spektrum Rx is going into failsafe/reboot.

Yes but he said he now uses a BEC, and than, the motor would go to idle too...

Do you have any flight logger you could put onboard just to monitor the loads on your bec while you're pumping?

Any video of it? Sometime seeing the problem makes it easier to investiguate

I say that because I was running the same set up , without the bec, for a while and I had the same issue. I switched to a CC45 esc and I haven't had a problem since.

I'm going to switch to a differernt spektrum receiver (AR6000) and see if this happens again.
In my old SE, I was running the AR6000, 430L, Medusa BEC and Quark ESC and never had a problem.

Well, I tried my AR6000 receiver and it still does the cutout after I pitch pump.
Foamy, do you think it's the ESC? Are you running a BEC with your CC45?
LMK.
Thanks,
JAy

I'm running a CC45 too with a CC bec, works like a charm

**Update: Still not solved**
I tried switching out my Medusa BEC for the CC one and when I pitch pump it still runs away. I thought I had a bad ESC, so I switched to a CC 45AHV ESC.
I pitch pump and it still runs away.

I have tried various combinations of BEC, Rx, and ESC and get the same problem.
Gear mesh is fine since I'm running a 10 tooth pinion and it's the smallest pinion you can put on there, all the ball links are free and nothing is binding.

Is the pitch too much causing too much of a load(I have +/-12 in ID1 and ID2)?

LMK ASAP.

Thanks,
JAy

Could you make a video of it?

Ok so let me see if I understand this correctly.

You go out and hover it, do a couple of pitch pumps (moving the throttle stick only up and down a bit) and then when you back to hover it will just start to climb up by itself, correct?

If that is is the case, that makes no sense at all. Unless you are getting some kind of glitch and your fail save it set to give +pitch

Let me clarify.
I spool up like normal, then go into idle up.
Once I pitch pump (after 2-3 times), the heli goes vertical at full throttle.
As it goes up, I try to pull down on the stick to bring it down, but the heli still goes up.
This is when I hit throttle hold and have to auto down.
As a note, when the heli is going vertical, I have no cyclic control.
I've tried to wiggle the sticks as it goes vertical and get no response. Only when I hit hold is when I get cyclic control back.

I am starting to suspect I may have a defective motor, but won't be sure until I can put in another one.

I've tried 2 ESC's which are rated for this motor and get the same results. Both my 3S packs are brand new so I don't think it's a voltage problem.

Let me know if there is something I'm missing here.

How is your pitch curve set at low, center, and high stick?

Foamy,
The pitch curve was set wrong for the idleup!!!
It was set 100-50-100!! It should have been 0-50-100!!!
I was thinking Nitro throttle curves for my 600N! I was working on both helis side x side!! LOL!!

Thanks everyone for your help!.

good to know you found a solution!

Sometime, the problem is so simple, it seems impossible to find!

I know it sounds silly but thanks for sharing. I'll make a mental note on this one for future troublesoot references.
