Bstock and guys,

1.) Material used/quality - we are using quality aluminum and quality machining throughout the heli. I want a good machine for myself to fly so I will make sure it has good parts. I have been flying and testing (and crashing) it for a while, but even after that if we come across any new issues we will fix the heli and make it better. Like anything I am sure it will evolve over time.

2.) They are plastic gears, but they are very tough. I honestly was worried about the tube drive when I first designed it because it was common conception that gears this size would just not hold up. So in our first test flights I was going pretty gentle on it to be safe. Then I got harder and harder on the tail to see where they would break. Then I got to the point of ridiculous with them. That was the point of the fast piros in the first two videos. It was not that it can go that fast, it is that is can go that fast over and over again, stop on a dime and the tail still works fine. It is simple and a little silly, but I love to take the thing hit over full rudder and do a blinding piro climb, stop it hard and do the same thing on the way down. Simple, but fun and it can do it all day long.

3.) Comes with a glass canopy painted the way it is in the videos

4.) I really cannot get into every detail of what comes in the kit yet because the kit is not quite out yet and we do have competitors reading this same thread. But I will say it is not just a kit.

5.) Parts supply - I would honestly say the kits and parts may be in relatively short supply for the first couple of months. We are a relatively young and small company so we have to start by producing a conservative number of kits. But once we know the true demand for the kit we can adjust the volume as needed. Unlike our present situation with the Radix 600 we have the capacity to produce kits as demand requires.

6.) Parts Pricing - competitive with the Trex SE V2 450 range.

7.) What's special - overall the quality and fit is very good. It is also very easy to build and fix after a crash. But the main thing that makes it unique is the very simple but solid Tube drive. The tube drive eliminates the static build up issues and it also gives a more solid and confident hold to the tail in flight. Also the ability without any changes to run the 350 blades is very nice. On the 350 blades and 4S the heli flies a lot more like a large heli. It is much more stable overall and will actually do real autos.

8.) Price - I cannot give the exact price yet. For many reasons, one I have not even told our dealers and Distributors the price yet. And I do not want our competitors to know just yet. But it will be competitive with the good quality 450 size helis.

I hope that answered your questions.

I think its safe to assume CY has the highest level of respect among any of the Pro's that have been or are. If CY has had a high level on input into this machine then i expect it will be impressive.

Price and availability will be interesting to see and i hope the initial "cheezy" marketing is behind us.

we can never have too many, can we ?

LOL ozace

To each their own in the marketing ideals. I'm not sure calling it "cheezy" is the way to go. It is actually really good marketing technique. They let us taste a sample got our curiosity up. Then put Curtis behind it and now, if you weren't curious, you are now I'm sure. The next step is seeing it fly. Which really won't matter to most of us because with Curtis behind it, it will already sell.

IMO the marketing was well executed and really has got the curiosity up for the Heli's that will follow this one.

Good luck Curtis with the launch.......I'm sure it will be received by the community very well.

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

You guys just didn't like the "swerve at the end" marketing. I did. It was a neat. Since the cat is out of the bag and we know who makes it now, "Ha, Ha." We had our laugh. On to business now.

I know I am WAY jumping the gun, but 450 size helis are neat and all, but big, bore a hole in the sky 90's are what get me goin'. There are lots of us who have been waiting for years for Curtis to finally make his own. As the old saying, "If you build it, they will come."

Thanks Curtis... that answered a lot!

It is going to sound like I am kissing up now... but I am not!!

Because you took a chance in replying in here - because I can hear the honesty and confidence in your answers - and because you may just have the first mini heli torque tube that will actually work and hold up to the stress (and you know others have tried) - I am interested in your new heli !!

Thanks!!

I like the idea of a torque tube on a small heli like this.

Hopefully the gears won't strip easily...

Can I assume that a person will be able to purchase Radix 350mm blades in the near future?

I just popped across curtisyoungblood.com and i saw the ads about the G-view in the main page. Looks like Curtis has another gyro in the making called the Mini-G!

Im sure it will be a great compliment to the Rave.

Curtis,
any news about this gyro? Im sure the whole market is looking forward to a gyro with Solid-G performance in a one-piece design.

I am playing catch up here, I don't usually follow the small electric stuff, but the ad caught my eye this after noon and I clicked on it. I thought it was a great ad. I think the only thing missing was CY's name on the banner which would have caused me to click earlier.

any three view still shots of this unit yet?

Good luck guys. It looks good.

cheers Dave

We will first have Next D 350s and Radix 350s will be available soon after.

Just to note - I own Next D and the Rave is my design, not just a clone that I picked up and decided to sell. I am sure many of you already got that point but I figured it was important to say anyways.

I know I'm not the one to be putting my opinion into a heli that I haven't even seen yet, but I hope to god the dampening is not like the 450's. It gets really frustrating having to replace dampeners every 5 flights (Thank god for truebloods )

On the Mini G, yes that is a new - smaller gyro intended for small electrics and all the way up to 50 size glow helis. Once we have the Mini G we would recommend the Solid G for sizes from the 50 to 90 size glow models. The solid G will work fine on helis smaller than that, but the size and weight of the mini G makes it a better match for the smaller helis.

It will be available soon as well. Likely a little before the Rave.

Something came to mind... and I just wanted to ask one more thing...

did you put good bearings in it?

It is so frustrating to have to tear down the Trex more than I like... just to replace those damn cheap bearings.

I would look twice at a Rave... just to know I was past that
