Brian is trying to fly his new foamie for the first time.. he had lots of confidence from the sim but didnt go so well.

if that wasnt bad enough he fixed it 3 times and never had a longer flight than this one.
Sorry Brian, not making fun of you I just think its funny, you should stick to helis.

I had a shock flier after having a trainer plane, only bought the trainer so I could fly at the local club since they didn't like helis much. Shockies aren't easy to fly if you've not flown a plane before and they certainly do break easily. You soon get used to it though and they really are great fun. Think I'm going to buy a new one today now

Foamy with high rates Turn the rates down and make sure you have enough room to fly around

Wind is not going to help you either,

I've got a flatouts redbull, I went from helis to it with no problem. I love the thing but it is too damn fragile, anyone reccomend somethign that flies similarly but is more durable?

I'm not worried about crash damage, I don't crash em really. This thing seems to break more often getting it in and out of the car or during construction than anything else.

Look at these. They fly like regular airplanes. They do need power to land.

I have the extra, but may pick up the yak soon. We are coming to SEFF, might see you there?

Nice! They look good. I think I might have to give one of those a shot. I went through the manual online for the extra and it is impressive. Looks to be of much better quality when it comes to hardware and the build.

I'll be at SEFF this year, haven't worked out all the details of that trip just yet but no way I'm going to miss it.

I too had a Great Planes foamie first. They really are junk. They fly like junk and they crash like junk.

Then I got into Charger RC foamies. Not only are they extremely easy to build (after doing my first, i can make one up in ~45 minutes flat) but they are very durable, easy to repair, and the performance is unreal.

the CR260 is the one i have. you can get a kit from them that includes the top of the line power setup and servos, etc.

You had too much throw on the alerion and ele, and that was not a good setup for a trainer.

I love my Fancy Foam. It has survived two hard nose dives with no damage. Comes with everything needed to fly, less the transmitter. Even includes receiver and crystal...$259. Can't beat it.

great suggestions on the foamies, i'm going to pick another one up soon but it looks like there are so many options for good ones that I might need a second mortgage.

I wasn't that disappointed with the flying qualities of the flatouts (the redbull anyway, had the matt chapman before and that one was the worst design I have ever seen in my life - way too flimsy with the wing mounting location). This redbull version flies pretty good IMO but the poor qualities it does have (hardware, construction as outlined in the manual, pricing vs quality) outweighs any positive qualities by far.

wait till you fly a Charger. when I graduated from my Flatout, it was night and day. more precision, more stability. not to mention HUGE 3d throws if you want. i can do stationary loops about 4 ft in diameter with my power setup.
